Not much of a story, but an oddity that made me headtilt.

Queued my alt-ling up for levelling roulette to get her MRD some xp. Got story mode Ifrit.

Usually this is a good thing. Quick, easy, done. No problem. Had a sprout THM and a NIN for dps, and a WHM healer.

Well...we actually wiped twice because of the nail. The first time, the THM ignored me when I called for him to switch to the nail, and I realised too late that the healer was one of those 'stand around idle' types. Wipe. Second time I decided I would drag Ifrit over and hit the nail myself if the healer wasn't going to help, they could deal with Ifrit breathing fire on random people anyway. Turns out that the NIN wasn't really doing that much damage. We got the nail to 10% (still no help from the THM). Wipe.

Got it on the third go when the healer got the message at last and spammed Stone on the nail. (STILL nothing from the THM...merrily casting random spells as newbie THMs are wont to do without a care in the world, bless his little lala heart).

I wasn't mad or anything, I mean I was still out of there in just a few minutes. But it was certainly a headscratcher for me.

I always get insane Lalafell THM and BLM too. Lalafell + BLM = pure insane chaos, near 100% certainty. Heh. Oy.

My theory is that the raw power drives their poor little brains into a sort of frenzy akin to a sugar high. Their minds can't focus, but instead excitedly fling the first spells that pop into their minds.

Eventually the abuse drives them completely insane. And that is how we end up with villains like Teledji Adaledji.

I ended up in Xelphatol the other day with a Scholar and a Black Mage that RP'd/cosplayed as Igrehorym and Lahabrea respectively.

They were... Pretty insane, so to speak. The BLM even had a macro for his Limit Break that shouted 'KNOW YOUR PLACE'.

With my magical Bard powers to help them along, we demolished the dungeon in 14 minutes.

I had an interesting run in Duty Roulette yesterday--Haukke Manor I believe it was.

I was playing my secondary (THM) along with an AST, DRK, and DRG. Well, I really like including CNJ support spells with my THM, so I had Protect, Stoneskin, Aero, Cure, and Raise along with Eye for an Eye.

I am the last one to try to be critical of a healer--being that I main one, but this healer....I just couldn't help but to shake my head. It was a good thing I had a good support set. Cure saved our tank at least twice, and I had to Swiftcast Raise our Tank AND Healer at one point.

Tank was a good sport about it though. Said on chat "Kudos THM. AST I hope you took notes."

Made me giggle. ;P

Knocking out the dungeons I need to advance to the final phase of my zodiac relic, which took me to The Lost City. It's one of my favorite 2.x dungeons, and I have ran it more times than I can count. I'm running as SCH, we get to Diabolos and the conversation goes something like this:

PLD: Is this guy with the doors?
NIN: Yup
Me: Yes, and I highly recommend using them
NIN: Nah, we'll burn through it
Me (grumbling to myself): You mean heal through it.

So Diabolos starts casting Ominous Ruin and I toss the buffs out: Feys, Sacred Soil, Succor. The NIN decides to not even enter my sacred soil and loses around 80% of his HP, then promptly was finished off by the graviball that he himself placed. I couldn't help but be amused by how things transpired for the NIN. Anywho, I still raised him and we got the clear without too much trouble. But it was a good example of how it can be a good idea to listen to your healer, especially if they know the instance. Optimal groups can ignore the doors, but Ominous Ruin still hurts a synced party. In a lesser set up, it's still a really good idea to use them. PUGs still wipe to it, even today.

Was leveling Conjurer just to try it out. Decided to queue for leveling roulette as soon as I hit level 16 even though I was super nervous because I'm new to healing.

Got Sastasha with three sprouts.

And they all did great! No problems whatsoever.

I ended up getting three commendations. I felt like I didn't deserve them. So if any of that group is reading this, you guys were great. Thank you!

Edit: Been running Alexander tonight, got into Heart (again) with no crank (AGAIN). WHM was new, and I prefer to go Noct when I can, since I always get a dead person Prey if I'm not shielding.

I walked out with 4 comms, though. Haven't seen that in a long while.

Not trying to discredit your story but you can't use Raise in combat unless you are a WHM, and you listed 6 CC abilities. Again, not saying what you said didn't happen.

I got ampador keep in 50's roulette earlier and my party members were speaking in a language that I couldn't recognize to explain the boss mechanics to their friend who was a sprout. So I asked

me: "Is that Portuguese?"
tank: "yep"

I was so pleased I guessed right on my first try! It was a lovely party we cleared just fine.
