What's so funny about this guy anyway? He never made me laugh/grin, or even smile at his jokes.
Get it over with, move on, and give us some new side story.
ps. His father is kinda funny though.

Hildibrand is written by Japanese writers and translated into multiple languages. If you don't understand how the Japanese write scripts or direct their shows then a lot of the story will be lost on you. I do wish sometimes the writers would use some influence with writing from the West, but I understand why they do things the way they do.
The first part of Hildebrand in Heavensward was really slow for me but it has finally picked up. I don't know why the writing was slow for the middle of Heavensward, the start and the end are really good(I mean the start and the end for all stories for me
).
Well as I said in my earlier post Hildibrand was originally not going to be in 3.X but the Scholasticate was going to be the "Hildibrand" of 3.X covering a episode per patch. However, the direction they planned for Scholasticate did not provide what people wanted from a side-story for Inspector Briardein due to how it just followed up on the bitter politics of ishgard and sad emo moments we already had in 3.0 and was going to be bombarded with more in 3.X.
3.X Hildibrand Story could be considered a Filler Arc as the original Season 2 was originally going to be released in 4.X thus why the storyline for 3.X Hilibrand storyline felt rushed and lack of proper build up becuase it is rushed into production as they had to scramble to get 3.X Hildibrand Storyline together at the last minute to provide that light hearted comedy story people just wanted after the feel train of all 3.0 contents and future 3.x content.
If Scholasticate had been successful on the go then we could have had episodes per patch covering the Ishgardian system explaining and showing the function of their nobility and commoner life while showing the stuggle between Commoners and Nobles plus more emo moments of "boo hoo" "I am a commoner and my life is horrible" and Noble going "Hahaha I am rich *sip fine wine*" and "filthy peasants *kick commoner*" moments. However, it did not swing that way and developers had to hold back Scholsticate Storyline and shorten it so they had room for the rush introduction of Hildibrand in 3.X

You never find anything fun or funny anyway so why do you care? Just ignore it.
I don't really care if he is brought back or not but I wish the 3.0 version had fights like the 2.0 one.
I personally would love more Hildi.. if people prefer something less hilariously stupid though, I do hope they keep adding alternative sidequests, something along the lines of scholasticate.
I sort of wouldn't mind a bit more action though, more trials or something? :/ 3.x Hildi did feel quite bland, I'll give you that... seemed shorter too...
While i do find his quests hilarious i must agree with Evangela. I'd rather have Hildi end on a high note than become boring and stale.
I thought he was okay in ARR, wasn't laugh out loud funny but it was a nice light hearted adventure that brought fanservice instanced trials but in HW his shtick got old to me, when I watched the cutscenes it just seemed like the devs didn't even really want to bring him back but they had to due to fan demand and it goes to show how bland the quests are compared to ARR's.
Should just make side missions based on his mother and father they're clearly the best characters.
