I would hate this. Instead of adding in 8 or more inventory spaces that can only be used for fishing bait/tackle, I would much prefer it to just be added to the backpack. And that's the main reason I think why it will never be added. Why add more restricted inventory when if you have the resources for it, just use it to expand inventory for everything.

From what I understand, as awesome as an inventory Bait tab would be, SE is reluctant because they wouldn't be able to add a bait tab JUST to fishers - EVERY player in the game would get the bait tab, and the vast majority never bother with FSH at all. It would be a humongous amount of reserved space that's never actually used for anything.
Folks who manage databases for a living simply cringe at this kind of thing, and I'm guessing those folks at SE are no exception.
SE's current solution is for FSH to use the same inventory that everyone gets. Not particularly fair to Fishers, to be sure, but it is what it is. It certainly doesn't hurt to ask for more, but I unfortunately doubt this will ever be a thing.

At this point with all the inventory issues on the system side and 4.0 expanding it. I think more auto sorting options should happen for QoL reasons, rather than locking out slots for specific items.
I've already made a thread in DoL about reintroducing spearfishing to the offhand slot, since 4.0 is bringing the swimming and diving element into the game.

I think with swimming being added, we're more likely to get a spear fishing offhand than tackle box. I would love to have a smalll separate tackle box inventory though.
