It would be hilarious to have a male boss with "exaggerated" proportions. I picture all the lala's staring up underneath a loin cloth stating in the shout channel, "I .... I think I found the weak point."

Just because something is half-human doesn't mean it needs to have a human chest. It could have a human bottom half. Just because something has human female in it doesn't mean it needs to have breasts. It could be an eel but a female face on it. That's a female monster. Or a female that is simply small-chested? Could have long hair. Heck to be honest, to be female, it doesn't HAVE to look female you know. Leviathan in FFXV is female with a female voice for example. As long as the Devs say, " This is a female", it's a female

The point is, female =/= has breasts etc, especially in a fantasy game.

Heck they can take Ferdiad and slap "Girl" on the lore tag. There you go! Does he look like a female human thing? No. But still female.

You can get Scylla and slap "Boy" on the lore tag. And you're like "He totally has boobs" but the key is that that's imagination.

Heh... You are right, that is something that someone could decide to do. But the thing is, that is not something that NEEDS to be done. You are right that a monster can have an animal body and a human face, but heres the thing, it can also have a full human torso - a fact that does not make it sexual. Your entire argument hinges on there being offence in designing creatures this way and I am simply reminding you that there is no offence, and that the artists made a choice to create the creature this way anatomically, and that it is neither sexy nor offensive to have a creature designed this way. If anything, it enhances the horror by creating an uncanny valley of something which is percieved as beautiful being twisted into a grotesque form (which can be a powerful artistic technique).

I don't understand your argument with genderswapping at all, so I will leave that well alone. As someone who attends a life drawing class, the male/female form are very real things and you are trying to tell me that males/females cannot be identified by silhouettes and curve patterns, which is simply not true (I know thats not what you are saying, but what you are essentially saying is "lets just change all the genders with no thought and it will make sense because I said so", it doesn't work like that).

Actually thats just a change in the english version.

Naels gender was never stated in the japanese version, and since we lack gender neutral terms, and it was never made clear naels gender was to be questioned, the english localization team just assumed it was a man, and labeled nael as a "him".

Once they realized the error with ARR, they changed the story, with the intent of a clone.

Then later changed it again for the lore book, to say it was his sister.

Now its possible for them to go with the sister idea, and make it work for all future storylines, much better than the clone idea.
but its just a mistake, with a quick fix, trying to cover up the change.
