Poll: Pull the plug Or Fund SE's New FFXIV

Have to kinda wonder if this really is a do or die move by SE. I mean, the game already has the reputation of having a low population. Forcing some of the people who are curious about the game, but not too impressed with it yet to make a decision to pay or leave is kinda harsh I think.

Sure this will remove some of the trolls and trash talkers that just frequent the forums to say bad things about this game, but realistically isn't it going to lower the population, and perhaps even make some of the people who are going to say "bored".

One thing I really liked about ffxi, was the community. Not just the friends I made, but the whole "atomosphere" of the game felt like "home" to me. Seeing the same people, for years (before they offered server transfers). It was fun grouping up with people I had ran into before, sometimes years ago, remembering their name even though I never really became friends with them. It just had that familiar feel.

I hope this game doesn't get too empty that the people who do support it by paying get bored.

To be honest with you Starlord, they won't Pull the Plug on the whole project, they will reach 2.0 regardless. However, as they continue to dish out patches and allow us to play, that is what they need the funding for, not 2.0.

No. I don't think that's what they mean at all.

He means that they need money to keep the servers up between now and 2.0. They could just as well pull the plug and tell us all to come back when 2.0 launches.

I do not see anything in that statement that implies that they need money to get to 2.0, only that they need money to pay the costs of continuing to keep the game operational.

Please don't make it sound like people have to pay or we'll never see 2.0. SE is not selling a promise of better days to come, they're selling the game as it is now. Yoshida even says later in that same post you quoted that it's up to the players to decide if 1.20 (or 1.21, 1.22) is worth our money.

This is a Serious Question If SE doesnt get the Funding this game will die, Thats the ONLY reason why I did a Poll ( which is my first btw)

I made the same poll about 10 mins after 2.0 was announced, there is no need to repeat it.

People that play mmo's knko that free to play mmos never last more than a year cause like SE says, they need funding to continue operation. You get what you pay for, any mmo thats free fucking blows no matter what. You need income to keep things rolling. You think WoW for example would b where its at if it was free to play? no
