Mew!
What se could do is directly address the major issues that were pointed out in the reviews. They haven't yet fixed the primary focus on leves that are all basically the same repeatable "quest". Ah is still missing and crafting is as brain-dead as it was in open beta. Honestly I think they rightly deserve the shame until they do something to the biggest issues. I for one won't be paying more to play this shell of a game until there is finished proper story to complete like we've come to excpect from ALL FF-titles.

Errr.. We're playing an MMO? We're gonna get mocked no matter what we play and rightly so tbh. I love MMO, but c'mon son, they're hardly glamorous. Not caring what other people think is the answer.

Yup. It's best to write "**** you" on your forehead and just walk on by. People don't have the right to tear you down for the things you find fun, especially if they're your "friends" or whatever. Being jaded is one thing, but being an asshole to someone just because YOU don't like the game they're playing is just wrong, period.
I don't tell my friends I play MMOs. I just tell them I sell drugs while I'm away.
"Sorry I couldn't make it to your birthday."

I just basically say to my friends "I don't care what you think. I'm having more fun with this broken game than I had with WoW so #"%/ off ;P".
To be fair, you could be gouging out your eyes with a heated, rusty spork and still be having more fun than playing WoW....But that's an argument for another day and forum.
Really, to hell with what anyone thinks. MMO players have always had an unwanted rep. So what if this is just a part of it?

Well, I guess I'm at the age where I just don't get embarrassed for liking certain things.
When people ask what games I play, I tell them. When they say "Ooooh I've heard BAD things about that game." I say, "Most of them were probably true (UI was a mess, lag etc. etc.), but... the game just had a rough start. People make mistakes you know? They're working it out and the game is a really fun place now, and it's only going to get better!" Then I go into the details and everything, and the person usually looks surprised and interested, and seems to change their mind about it a little.
And once I feel the game becomes something they might enjoy I'll suggest they try it out. I'll tell them about all the awesome new features and things to do.
But hey, if people wanna act like playing a game is some terrible thing to do, then let them. If you don't react to it they'll likely get bored and stop teasing. There's nothing shameful about believing in something/someone(SE) and supporting them. It's called loyalty.
I don't think any peer pressure is SE's fault. They're doing the very best they can. People act like jerks of their own accord.

And you know something guys? It could be worse, a lot WORSE than talking about videogames and MMOs. They could be talking about sports or the latest episode of Desperate Housewives.
