No one is forcing you, but you can't expect decent parties with standards to want you around for harder content if you don't perform.
It was never a problem in wow. Dps/healer support was sought after, the only problem some had with it was having 2 of them in a group in poor geared current content, a bit like 2 scholars sometime. No really huge heals was shields and half-heals. It did work though
This game is designed so that healing requirements are extremely predictable and healers are powerful, so other roles trying to heal is almost always a waste of time (as opposed to healers using their non-healing time to DPS, which is desirable).
To add to this, I heard that a scholar main-healed a12s. Some may need to think outside their box of 'standards‘ sometimes. The idea that some healers are just support/dps and cant and shouldnt do anything else needs shaking up a little.
I didnt dispute that in my comment. I just stated that a dps/healer works, which actually agrees with what your saying, cos disc healer, was actually like a scholar, but was intentionally made to dps.
You do have the right to ask someone to perform differently, otherwise SE would just ban you for doing so. You then have the right to ignore that request. You both have the right to initiate a vote kick, then the group decides if they want to support or get rid of you. You have the right to leave the party if you don't want to play to their expectations. The group choice is the most important, not the individual.
Saying "you don't have the right" doesn't make it magically so.
