My idea to help PVP in this game.

I think a good system to implement in 4.0 would be the addition of pvp fates. Something that does not involve a queue, except the timer for the fate to pop, and could involve deathmatch or objective play. Use a system similar to level sync which you could toggle on once you are in the fate and will not be switched off until the completion of the fate. This would help alleviate some boredom in between queues and can also start to bring open world pvp to ffxiv.

I don't want open world PvP in FFXIV.

I doubt this would help PvP much. Consider, the queues are already data-center wide. If queues are as bad as they are despite being able to queue up anytime anywhere across multiple servers, how lively will that kind of open world PvP likely be, being location, time and server restricted?

    I wouldn't mind it, but...yeah. I don't think that would take off.

Open world PvP FATEs might unfortunately become as neglected as Heavensward FATEs are, sadly.

What WOULD be nice is more dueling locations. Costa Del Sol, The Ul'dah Gladiator Arena, Witchdrop (Coerthas), any additional island in the Sea of Clouds/Churning Mists, even the Gold Saucer. Just add the boundaries and set the area as "Dueling permitted"; get it out there where people can see and maybe give it a try. Adding more places to do it might give it more exposure. And more exposure might mean more people becoming interested in duels/PvP. And that's not a bad thing at all. I know the dueling grounds did a lot to spark interest in PvP on my server, so consider it tested and successful.

Another added benefit is it remains unintrusive; duels are by request, and can be refused. And even if someone walks into the dueling circle right now, they can't interfere with an ongoing duel, so there's no worry of suddenly being attacked or being forced to fight.

Give us a pvp zone for the data center with these pvp fates might be a good start hell they could use a frontline map almost and convert it to a zone that way the players who dont want world pvp dont even nedd to worry or go there

Too bad this isnt a community driven game, they don't care about suggestions.

Since you took the time to say something, got any ideas or personal thoughts on the ideas shared?

Theoretically, I like the idea of World PvP, but I have yet to see any iteration in an MMO that I truly enjoyed through and through.

I would hope a relatively simple and limited version such as the one you're suggesting would be spared the majority of annoyances, but I fear it would also be neglected by the majority of the playerbase or else swarmed to the point that it feels less like PvP and more like a low-fps mutual trampling among overlapped flailing limbs and combat animations you couldn't possibly determine the target of.

If you really want to see an influx of PvPers, then I feel like the PvE game needs to align a bit more closely with that of PvP. Why should CC be almost absent from PvE, yet the backbone of PvP focus fire? Why should PvE be dependent on invisible arbiters such as the enmity system, the toolkits for which go completely to waste in PvP. Why is kiting a default for PvP, yet discouraged in PvE, even when it would likewise reduce damage taken far more than damage dealt? Bring the two experiences closer together, and then finally bring XP acquisition to PvP as well, and you'll have your influx.
