Would people even care about RP if it didn't...oh wait.
Would people care about housing if it didn't...no, that doesn't work either.
Would people care about building glamours if it...DANGIT!
Bottom line: Yes, people would care if they found it fun. No, they would not care if they did not find it fun. And the overwhelming verdict on PvP in this game is: It's not fun. The reasons? Hells if I know. I can only speculate like everyone else and it's going to come down to the individual. But it says a lot when a mode with huge innate replayability potential can't keep people's interest.
-RP is entirely different and there is no way to reward RP.
-Housing is a reward unto itself. You have a house, it is material, and it sticks around for as long as you use it. So you are wrong.
-Glamour is the reward so, dunno what you are trying to say. Stupid comment is stupid. Gonna reward you being rewarded? Please man, people like you are so triggered by PVP getting something of value that you lose all common sense.
So please man, think before you talk thanks.
Point is, it has something they want yet they don't want to do the work for it. Better to hang out in the gold saucer all day while simultaneously watching netflix.
I wouldn't be surprised if their post history contains whine threads about how savage gear not being available in other ways triggers them.

Zojha, you say PvP isn't fun and that it has failed, yet you're from the server known to have a large majority of some of the best PvPers on our data center. So really, where are you getting the idea that it's a failure? I'll level with you in that it's not perfect, but the content is very much alive (even when, especially when PvE content gets old/stale), there are players that accomplish all their endgame currency capping though PvP itself, and while often dead last in priorities it seems, SE DOES actually make efforts to support PvP. So I challenge your claim that it's a failure.
I mean, if you don't like and don't want to bother with PvP, say so and let it stand for you. But don't argue points that aren't true.
I'll be the one to say it, and I'm not afraid to: PvP isn't dying a slow and horrible death due to lack of interest. There's a small but dedicated community that enjoys it anyways. No, it's "dying" due to sporadic support and upgrades, poor and questionable changes, and almost no two-way communication. SE says "give us your feedback via the forums!", we show up and say "hey, we REALLY want this thing" or "hey, this is a really bad idea and we don't want it", and 3 years later we get what we want, or they go forward with the bad idea we didn't want anyways, and with not so much as an acknowledgement of having heard our feedback they were so welcoming of.
The last time we got new gear or a new mode (regardless of how well it was received) was what? 3.2? 3.25? Imagine if PvE content were treated that way. 6 months of no update, no word from SE, and whatever little thing might possibly be offered as incentive or reward being taken away or given to others at the slightest complaint from people who wouldn't touch the content otherwise. How does that sound? Sure, some might still play cause it's "fun" (and if so, now you understand the mindset of an FFXIV PvPer just a little more), but realistically, the PvE playerbase would riot or leave due to boredom. Unless of course, you'd be fine STILL running Antitower/Lost City HM right now as your expert roulette?
Bottom line: There's an event soon that caters to people who like PvP, but a non-PvP option is still available. On top of that, you've got a whole patch of PvE content waiting in the wings to keep you entertained for the next 3 months while we still wait another 3 for a new Feast map and a pre-season (which we've asked for since getting shotgunned into Season 2, and are ONLY getting because of the new map). Let us have this. Enjoy the event however you choose to, but don't complain that it's not fair your rewards aren't dyeable, cause man. . . if you want to talk fair between PvE and PvP, you're in for some stories.

I'm not repulsed and it's not like I don't like it, I just can't get anyone to teach me or take me into it with them. I literately know no one that does it. And honestly it confuses me and I know I'll be pretty much be the first to die, which is a reason I haven't tried it. I always hated it in other MMOs, with it being open world PVP. I'm glad it isn't in XIV.
I just REALLY hope there will be another way in getting the mounts besides PVP, I want at least one of them more than I want the the armour except maybe the Priest or whatever one.
In my opinion, I am disappointed they did a PVP centered one, though. :/
Sentaryuu, the best advice I can offer you is to just go for it. Dive right in.
I've almost single-handedly created (or at least brought together) the raiding community on Goblin server, and even gotten people who were curious but gun shy to try it, and they're regulars now. Remember this: You WILL lose. You WILL make mistakes. But it's not the mistake or loss that matters, but how you adapt and learn from it. Some wins will be easy, and some definitely won't. Same goes for losses. But if you wanna do it, do it. And don't let anyone stop you. Consider this entry-level, core thought process for achieving anything in this game. And when you do get what you want, be willing to help others.
PvPaissa.com has lots of great starter info/guides. Arm yourself with knowledge, then get in there and get some experience. I wish you all the best.
There's a thread on this forum with a link to a discord PvP community.I'm not repulsed and it's not like I don't like it, I just can't get anyone to teach me or take me into it with them. I literately know no one that does it. And honestly it confuses me and I know I'll be pretty much be the first to die, which is a reason I haven't tried it. I always hated it in other MMOs, with it being open world PVP. I'm glad it isn't in XIV.
Also, it's honestly not that much different than PvE, learning wise. Are you experienced in PvE? Take the same learning strategies and just apply them in PvP. Ask questions. Look at what the good players are doing. Practice. There are a lot of nuances to FFXIV PVP when you get down to the high levels but if you're just starting out, the same basic guidelines still apply. I've seen good PvE players who don't know a thing about PvP do somewhat decent in PvP just by using all their gcds and buffs correctly.
@Sentaryuu
Also, why are you disappointed about our community actually getting something to be excited about for once?
There are a lot of good players who stream feast, they are often the second or third most viewed xiv streams on twitch. Hang out there sometime and see if it's more interesting to you. Broadcasters or chat will usually answer questions.
I mean...its not like the Makai Knights don't fight each other sometimes. No, Not at all.
And this totally isn't judging a book by it's cover at all either! What it looks like to me, is a mature version of Power Rangers, with these "Makai Knights" dealing with "Horrors" (demons). Doesn't really seem PvP related to me.
Sorry, I like the idea of Garo being a PVP event, gives me a reason to get into PVP. And with the massive backlash against FATE grinding for the Yokai Watch event, I can see why they went this route. I wish Gouten was behind some special event quest so we can be like Garo and earn him like Garo does (Slay 100 horrors and face a great trial of darkness.) but having him be behind an achievement isn't that bad either as long as it isn't something horrendous like obtain every piece of the event gear.

Three year's worth of pve events and the one time the pvp community gets the option to do an event through pvp, people complain. Lol.
