If they did that, the boss fights would have to change drastically since melee dps would suddenly be doing a LOT more damage. And personally if they went with the 'action rpg' motif, I'd quit. I've tried games like Guild Wars 2, Wild Star, and the newer mmos done in such style and frankly they don't appeal to me at all.

This is a nice mix of the old of FFXI and the new of WoW. And the market clearly still has a place for games with these types of mechanics based on how well the newest WoW expansion is doing and XIV is no wilting rose either when it comes to numbers.

In any case, making that drastic of a change to the combat system is only good for one thing, driving players away.

As my mother would say, "If it's not broken, don't try to fix it."
