Dear Fellow SCH,

When Duty Finder decides to team us up I can either focus more on healing while you focus more on DPS, or you can focus more on healing while I focus more on DPS. Either one is fine, honestly. HOWEVER, it comes with the caveat that if you want to be the one to heal then you actually must heal appropriately. Spamming succor while out of range of tank (and your fairy out of range as well) when the tank is the only one taking damage? Not helpful.

Had a run of Sohm Al last night (One of my last ones! Finally got all my jobs to 55) on one of my healers, and got a PLD who had a few issues. They got hit by easily avoidable AoE, but rather than berate them I paid attention to what they were doing. They were SLOWLY walking backwards out of it. After the first boss I explained to them about Legacy controls and for them to practice with them after the dungeon. Later, on the final boss, they died and had a lot of trouble getting hate back up. They had been using Provoke as a hate generating tool earlier and weren't using it now, so I explained how provoke worked.

After the dungeon, we played around a little to show how legacy controls work (they were blown away) and explained in more detail how provoke works (they said they figured shield oath would handle all their enmity needs for getting it back after death). They thanked me for actually having patience with them and not just berating them.

Promptly got a DRG in the next run who never used AoE on large trash pulls, stating it was an inefficient use of TP. The whole rest of the party explained that when it hits more than 4 mobs it's actually MORE TP efficient than single target attacks. They proceeded to swear at us and drop party. And nothing of value was lost.

^ To above, it depends honestly. If I'm allowed to regen TP I will AoE. But most tanks rush so I don't bother.

Still seeing A12N failures, like tanks not bringing adds close...

Makes me sad.

While it might FEEL less TP efficient in those cases, the fact remains that you deal more damage for the TP spent if the group is large enough. Even if it means having to attack slower to wait for TP.

In this case though, it was literally the first pull. They HAD TP to spare.

Just had an interesting Stove Vigil run on my MNK. It was obvious the tank was bad right from the get go and I felt guilty towards the healer because I was tanking too many mobs so I started switching targets. Turns out this was a bad idea as I just ended up tanking all 3..... He had shield oath up too so one combo'd RoH should have been enough to secure at least one mob. Left me baffled it did.

couldnt say, I avoid DF like the plague these days. Ill only run something if someone i know comes with me lol. The amount of sheer lack of skill from ppl in there is mind blowing. You almost feel like theyre Bots or something.

Wiped on Floor 50 of PotD. I don't know what happened. The run was so good. Got 6 points in armor and 2 in weapon. It was smooth. Then the boss came and everyone went brain dead. They got hit by the AoE, didn't turn around from the gaze attack which caused the to run into the AoE again. Then everybody died.

Experience has made me jaded lol. There are plenty of good healers out there, but there are enough mediocre to bad ones that I've just learned it's better to do my own thing. I sorta just go in with the mentality of "if you're gonna help, fine, but I'm gonna try and pretend like you aren't even here for the entirety of this instance."

I've run into a LOT of players who simply can't handle Edda's mechanics in Palace. I had one run I remember where I explained the fight and one DPS said
"A turn around mechanic? Just kill me now."

For some reason, turning around in this game is SUPER hard for some people. You right click and slide your mouse. Scary stuff. Or, in Legacy controls, tap S.

I did see during that (wiped) fight that the poor guy was keyboard turning. And it was WAY too slow to handle the fight. I mean... How do you get in the habit of keyboard turning? It's terrible!
