And then the 'gimme Viera' whiners poured in in droves...
Think I'll be avoiding this one.
what if we came from ivalice....
So true...
Really, a little reality check is needed here - SE have already stated in the past that 1), Ivalice and Hydaelyn are not the same worlds, they are completely separate worlds in different universes, and 2) viera are not going to be added to the game (because Yoshi considers them to be too similar to the miqo'te, as being 'humans with animal parts'), nor is there even going to be any new player race added in Stormblood.
The 'return to Ivalice' thing is simply a clever move to build hype and excitement... but it is almost guaranteed to be just like the Crystal Tower and just a single dungeon from an Ivalice game that has been slightly tweaked to be 'natively Hydaelyn' and not the actual Ivalice location (like how the Crystal Tower was not FFIII's actual one but an Allagan structure). Personally I expect it to be something like Midlight's Deep (from FF Tactics) or the Great Crystal (from FFXII). Still, I'm intrigued.![]()
Really, really doubt the Ivalice in FFXIV is "the" Ivalice y'all are talking about. Just like SE loves reusing the names and models from past games for whatever reason... I'm sure this is Hydaelyn's own place called Ivalice, possibly without any Viera.
I agree with you on the reusing models as every other FF prior atleast updates them for a new universe but I think 3 expansions in at this point (if you count ARR as one) should have gotten the message across that this game is a fan service theme park MMO for people familiar with the series. It's why I never recommend this game as a good starting point into the series.
And even for people new to the series through this game it could just be a cool dungeon/raid/boss whatever to them and they'd be none the wiser.
May be the next raid is Final Fantasy Tactics Online....we'll fight in a grid map and it's turn based.
