Original cooldown was 2 hours, and while other jobs typically got a 2 hour ability that could change the tide of a fight, DRGs just got to call their pet. This was later changed to 20 minutes and their 2 hour became something that boosted their dmg output.
DRGs also couldn;t use the best dps armor and their stat bonuses focused on accuracy instead of STR or INT like other dps.
Thankfully DRGs are much better in this game and aren't the outcasts they were in XI (though on a side note, DRGs got much better in later expansions).
