Are apartments really guaranteed though? I thought they were still limited to 90 pr Ward, which one some severs still doesn't seem to cover the demand, but I could be wrong.
They are, but that's 90 for each of the 12 wards, each of which have a subdivision and then there's 3 different areas as well. So that's a total of 6,480 at the moment so from what I understand right now the only server sold out is Balmung.
SE had claimed that they were going to be able to expand that whenever needed, since although they started with 90 per ward unlocked, the apartment houses actually support more than 500 each. (The only reason they started with just 90 from each available was to ensure people spread out across all the wards rather than those who bought them that first day they were released all being in ward 1, while people who joined later went to ward 2 and so on.)
But after saying they'd unlock more of them whenever needed, they didn't do so when Balmung sold out, so now we don't really know what's going on. It's true that most servers don't need more yet, but that's no reason not to unlock more of the apartments on the server that does.
Actually it probably is. All the servers will have exactly the same configurations for everything. It's in their interest to keep things the same as it just makes things a lot easier for them. If you're rolling out updates you don't have to worry about specific server configurations, you know that what you are doing will be the same across the board.
It probably caused hassle in the past when house prices were 3 different configurations, but not now they're all the same.
The biggest issue is people who have tons of alts and own 20+ houses by themselves.
Lock it to 1 house per account and things would get better quickly.
This should have been done when individual housing was implemented in the first place.
That would only be practical if the house was automatically shared by all your alts on your account, but it's not unfortunately.
