I kept telling myself I wouldn't, but here I am anyway... I'm not going to read through 50+ pages of salt that would make Ozma sad he couldn't produce. At this rate I'm half expecting the last Shadows of Mhach raid to have the boss be a horrible mishmash of a monster named Jump Potion Cash Shop and take a page out of KH and make you traverse through Monstro the Whale, since that gets thrown around so much. I'm going to assume what's been thrown around this thread since I've seen it in the 8547812+ other threads about the Cash Shop, Jump Potions, etc. It's likely no different.

    >"They better make Hall of the Novice compulsory for doing story!"

They do. You can't go through Sastasha on a new character until you complete the Hall of the Novice. You talk to Reiner, he sends you to the Aleport and your quest marker brings you to the Hall. Until you complete the training in there for whatever class you're on, the quest marker to talk to the NPC outside of the Sastasha entrance does not appear. My source? I play on Balmung. I have all 8 slots filled, and a few characters at 15 or at Sastasha-level. It was also in the 3.2 patch notes: "[2.0] Players will now be instructed to visit the Hall of the Novice while progressing through the main scenario quest "It's Probably Pirates."" You literally cannot unlock Duty Finder during the story until you complete it. Whether or not that changes with a story jump, I wouldn't know. Yeah it flags everything, but if someone only uses the Job Jump one, they'd still have to go through it for story.

As it is, at Vegas Fanfest Yoshi-P mentioned possibly a Hall of the Intermediate for further in the quest. I've seen people saying yes to this, and I do think it's needed. I mean we already have a "Hall of Raiding" essentially with Stone, Sky, Sea, so why not? This is an idea I think most who are for/against the jump potion idea are definitely for.

    > "concerns about the gil how dare!!!"

300k is the base amount you get for clearing the story. Get on xivdb and look at the gil rewards for the complete MSQ for 2.0. By the end of it if you haven't done side quests or sold stuff on MB that's pretty much the baseline amount of gil you get for completing it.

    > "no one will know their class/job!!!"

Okay, and they're overhauling the battle system anyway for Stormblood, no one's going to know their new rotations right out the gate. We're all going to be relearning our classes/jobs, how is that so different? As others have pointed out on the last couple pages I went back, and Yoshi-P said it himself: the HW jobs and the SB jobs will not have jump potions. ASt, DRK, and MCH already start at 30, it's not that much or hard to get to 60 at this point, it won't be that bad to get to 70 in SB either. Whatever new jobs come out in SB won't have them either so everyone will be learning those jobs and not auto-experts at them right after unlock.

And of course, even people who have been playing a while still don't know how to play. So, really? :\ just being rude at this point. More people read their tooltips on what an ability does than those who don't, but ask how to make these things more effective. Don't see how that's the end of Eorzea like people are saying a la Chicken Little, but ok then.

    > "CASH SHOP!!!!!!"

Kay. Don't care. Those "whales" gave SB triple their budget and give the EU players their own Data Center and servers. How dare those who have some extra cash give themselves something they want and help the MMO they play! HOW. DARE. Tired of this argument and this term tbh. The rest of my annoyance with cash shop threads will stay out, but that is the biggest thing that applies to jump potions.

    > (general whining about helping new players when SB hits)

If you're in the Novice Network with a crown, get out. If you can't be bothered to help out the new players like your title asked you to do when you received it, you don't deserve that title. It's not a status icon for e-peen stroking. If you don't want to help newer players, turn it off. Don't help out. Just complain. That's all you're doing anyway.

    > (general comments about how people will leave when jump potions/whatever else is added they don't like)

    Bye, Felicia.

    > (general salt over "OMG P2W!!!!")

Nothing they're introducing is Pay-to-Win. The most a job jump potion would give in terms of gear in SB is probably un-Antiquated Eso gear. You know, the baseline for completing all of the post-60 raids/dungeons through 3.1. The stuff everyone has been out of for 4 patches now. The Chinese clothing that offers a buff? OHNOES, how dare! Except that you get the same buffs from equipping any of the collector's edition gear, a friendship circles, the Brand-New gear you get from completing the Hall of the Novice... that's not pay to win. There's free gear in game with the same stats. The weathered jewelry they offer now is the same and is a bigger stat boost. You pay gil for them, and they're pretty cheap (like a full set is like 700 gil or something.)

-They aren't selling permanent stat boost potions on the cash shop.
-They aren't selling omg best gear on the shop (the Chinese outfits are ilvl1.)
-They made the same dyes that were currently cash shop only available in game from retainer ventures, and went further by making sellable ones so you didn't have to rely on your retainer to bring them back.
    -Furnishings are not p2w.
    -Chocobo bardings are not p2w.

And before anyone screams about the Korea/China versions with the bought crafter/gatherer gear: they're ilvl1 for glamour. They are not the lv50/60 gear you can make/buy for each crafting/gathering class at 50/60. They are still not p2w.

I used to play a game called Gunbound back in the day. It's still around, it was a Korean-made game iirc. It's pretty much a Worms! clone. While you could get decent gear through in-game currency from winning matches, it took FOREVER. If you wanted an edge though? You bought your gear and upgrades with real money. Their item shop is here. Seriously, read through the different abilities in the different tabs. The better the sound? Real Money item. Better avatars with better stats than the starters/'I saved up my in-game currency to buy something with nice stats'? Real money item. Those are true p2w. Some glam items with trash stats, some mounts, some dye? Is not p2w. Jump potions, and how they restrict them in the outline that Yoshi gave? Is still not p2w. Maple Story, the mmo that everyone played in middle school, is a p2w mmo. FFXIV is not, and will not be per the devs, a p2w mmo. Stop throwing the term around when it's not actually p2w.

If I've actually out-salted anyone over anything, I'll be amazed.
