    I could not be more against this idea. It spits in the face of the 'story based MMO' SquareEnix is trying to push so hard.

    The only way I would be okay with this would be if it DIDNT skip the whole 2.0 story, and, say, placed you at level 50, about to run Castrum Miridianum, thus skipping the (honestly kinda boring) pre-50 story quests. This theoretical potion should obviously place you at level 50, as well.

    The option to just 'level to 50' via an item should not exist, it's a terrible idea.

    I see more positive than negative with YoshiP's breakdown.
    The need for this was inevitable.

    However, the Dev Team cannot sit on their hands after implementation. A lot of thought was put into the potions and what they do, the same has to be done in the game itself.

    - Do not alter the Main Story. XP and rewards should be adjusted for those that want to actually complete it. You should be promoting and rewarding players that are putting time into older content. If a jump potion can give players ilvl required gear for there lvl. Do this for players completing the Main Story at certain points as reward items.

    - Put Dev Time into Intermediate and Advanced job specific tutorials and trials. This should be mandatory for everyone at the appropriate stage. It should be done regardless of potions getting implemented or not.

    That is my feedback, I'm not here for discussion, especially how some players are acting in this thread.

    At least you can easily do omnicrafter now if you shell out the money. No need for other people. Only positive I can see. Otherwise horrible decision. People will be running out of content faster than ever most likely.

    I already spit on it! Been playing for a long time (more than 2 years i think Oo) and i skip every piece of the story, my fun is in other things of the game and I'm not even a bit bored right now on ffxiv like some ppl said ppl doing that would be. So yeah not everyone thinks like you guys and you need to accept that. It changes nothing for you if i read the story or not.

    I'm personally okay with the jump potions. I'd rather have a pool of (potentially less skilled, we don't know yet) players than no players at all as the amount of content necessary to catch-up becomes more and more astronomical.

    With that being said, I'd prefer it if the jump potion was offered as a free potion to any new account generated (potentially a potion per character depending on the amount of alts people would make to join other friends on other servers). The player would have the option to use it once, and they would get to pick one job of their choosing to get to a level and gear appropriate for the start of the current expansion. They can't get another potion and they can choose to omit using the potion and journey from the start of the game as well. The game should also give a synopsis of the WoL's exploits up to the start of the expansion just like was mentioned in the OP.

    I'm okay with the story jump potion, though the level jump potion leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'd rather the level jump potion be restricted to a one time use per character just to help people get a good start on the current account. The can level the other jobs normally afterwards. Just boost the experience gains from earlier content / dungeons or reduce the amount of EXP necessary to get to the current expansion.

    I understand Yoshi P and i will buy expansion. Be cautions i know that warcraft already is doing this too. just keep churning out great content blizzard announce that they going be make another expansion for warcraft.

    I think instead of having a need for these potions, why not make the content differently? Make progression more horizontal...it will give new players and veteran players stuff to do. When I used to play XI and a new friend would join, I could level with them easily, had fun going through story missions with them (There was always stuff to do, NM's to fight on the way and gear to collect from the "old" fights) so..not only was there always something to do, both players had benefits and there was no need to "pay" to skip game content...

    But I have a feeling in the end this potion was pretty much a go...and the content was designed with this in mind from the start. :/ I have to admit, money wise..its a good idea. But for the over all game health? Hmm...with the way the game is it seems like this is a good option, which is why I suggested to change things slightly so content isn't so vertical but I highly doubt that will ever happen. It seems like the way this game has gone and its patches that its way too vertical. When it is THAT vertical that it requires paying money to skip the content..that is a bit too much imho. So if you do insist on doing this, at least make sure for the future the content is relevant and has longevity please.

    This is just my feedback...as others have mentioned, I am not here to discuss/argue/debate. Just wanted to give feedback as Yoshida has requested. Thanks!

    Am I the only person who sees this game as a MMO first then story after? I mean how much time is actually spent doing story compared to actual battle content...

    When I think story based MMO the first thing that comes to mind is SWTOR. They have story updates every month and this is what they mainly have been doing and those updates last at least 2 hours+ depending how you approach it.

    it's the definition of monetized cheating and if they really wanted newcommers to catch up relatively quickly to higher up players then why not just increase the exp earned at lower levels? i thought the cash shop was for purely cosmetic stuff.. then they added retainers...now jump potions. nope, level up your paladin you dont' get to cheat up through the cash shop in a sub based game ^~ ^
