Players weren't all that happy about 3.1, if I recall (and all the FFXIV team did was take a break for two weeks or something after HW's release). Delayed and rather lacking in the endgame department.People keep talking about other in game options. Can anyone suggest one that the existing quest system will allow for and that won't require a overhaul of the ARR MSQ. I wouldn't be opposed to an overhaul in theory if it wasn't for the fact that doing so would mean a lot less endgame content for people who have already completed the MSQ.
@YoshidaMaking all the content ilvl and level gated. In essence making the MSQ optional.
All this would require would be a simple change in content unlock requirements. They wouldn't even have to touch the MSQ for that.
There is NO reason to implement a level skip potion other than making SE money.
Why not this honestly?
Main quest series is a source of lore/immersion, exp, gear, glamours (mount/some outfits/minions) and structure. People can use it until they get bored, for the guidance or story, and the people that want to skip just get a plethora of dungeons and new areas to explore, with the people with friends able to easily be gifted a full ilvl 145 set bought from npcs for less than 100k total I think.
When it comes to lvling, they were gonna do the dungeons/potd/fates and etc anyway, out of curiosity and in duty finder's case for the second chance points.

Wonderful. Make a joke of all the pointless clicking everyone's had to do to get throught the turgid MSQ and fully enable gil sellers to jump on in with a high level char and job.
These pay solutions might be acceptable if we weren't already paying a sub.
Not going to read through 39 pages of replies, so forgive me if this was already stated.
This game is not yet four years old. You are only talking about THE SECOND EXPANSION. Has anyone bothered to consider that while such a service will eventually become necessary with all the MSQ gating (IE - tying all the expansions together into one long string rather than having one here and there that is the start of a brand new story) TWO EXPANSIONS IS TOO EARLY FOR SUCH A THING.
MSQ offers one of the most efficient means of leveling up from 1-50 in ARR then from 50-60 in HW. Someone playing a few hours a day can play through the MSQ of both ARR and HW in a few weeks. Not years, not months, mere weeks.
People are lazy, they can't be bothered to unlock things and "work" for level cap nowadays.
If they also add proving grounds like in WoW that are required for dungeon/raid participation i don't believe there will be an issue with jump potions. If they want to allow people to skip everything a system should be in place to assure a certain level of player quality. I'm not keen on carrying a bunch of noobs that play 1 week via DF raid/roulettes.
Your "simple change" isn't actually easy to implement. By adjusting flags to account for ilvl, they would still have to overhaul entire quest system because accessing Heavenward could happen before you've completed half ARR. Therefore, it requires extra development costs. Regardless, who cares if their sole motivation was financial profit? Square Enix is a business. Why shouldn't they attempt to capitalize on something practically every other MMO does? One could argue they're simply collecting the sub time you would have paid had you gone through everything at reasoned pace. If they bundle these potions with the expansion, it'll essentially be a free skip to whomever wants one. At that point, it's difficult to call them money hungry.Making all the content ilvl and level gated. In essence making the MSQ optional.

I can see the benefits for new players joining their friends and returning players to catch up, this is really good for them!
But on the other hand I can also see the negatives that will come from this, currently alot of players are experiencing players in the Duty Finder, Raid Finder and Party Finder that cant even do a simple rotation or know how their job skills function.
I have seen Mentors try to approach these players in a friendly way to help them explain basic rotations and tips how to become better but is instead met with "Dont tell me how to play my game!", "You dont pay my subscription, I dont need to read my tooltips!" or just very rude comments for trying to help.
I have experienced this myself when trying to help out my fellow adventurers but have grown tired of this type of behaviour and it discourage me from trying to help more and I have turned my Mentor status off.
Well Yoshi-P said the jump potions are coming sometime between Stormblood and the next expansion, so it could be they aren't coming until closer to the 3rd expansion. I think people are going to be disappointed if they thinking these things will be available right after Stormblood. Not going to read through 39 pages of replies, so forgive me if this was already stated.

If you actually valued players catching up faster, this would be free and work on ways to catch everyone up faster, not just people with some extra dough.
Me: "Aww man I'm clicking all the wrong buttons tonight!"
Friend: "You're i190, you can't click a wrong button unless it is no buttons"
Me: "lol"
