    Agree, but..

This game it's extremely rewarding to loyal players but brutal to new players. I've been enchanted with it ever since patch 2.3 but was only able to afford it since patch 3.2, making me a returning player stuck in patch 2.0 and I beat it all in 3 months a week later from the release of 3.3.
The jump potion will change all that, many people will come and probably add more professionals to the field, there will also be more friends coming to the game hopefully both parties will balance each other.
On the other hand I completely agree with the job potion, as I am a student I take a six month break with this game leaving me with only my vacations to tackle all that I missed so technically I'm stuck with WHM and thanks to the lvl boost a 50 AST and while I enjoy both jobs I do wish to try out newer ones.
Either way I think it's best to implement it, now I might be able to convince friends to play without scaring them off, even if it means skipping the gorgeous story.

I'm fine with Job Potion and Story Skip to new players, The content to play with friends is huge with tons of filler. So having a shortcut to being close to where your friends are at is great. What I don't want is multiple Job Potions to be sold on single accounts. I just don't like the idea of people able to get multiple jobs to 60. I would much rather them up the EXP gain in A Realm Reborn dungeons and then soon Heavensward Dungeons to speed up the leveling process.

If the multiple Job Potions do get added, I would like the sub fee to at least go down a bit by like 2 dollars as this makes it ever so closer to F2P models in a P2P game.

Honestly.....as always, Yoshi disregards the "inexperienced player" argument as minor, which it is not. He claims to be a gamer, he should know better than that unless all he truly enjoys are single player games.

That being said, I am more and more sure FFXIV is preparing to F2P eventually. Just instead of jumping the gun they are slowly, they are easing the community into it. Don't bring the "WoW never went F2P" argument, this is not WoW (or not completely) and we do NOT have the same amount of players, as much as people want to believe it. I did not play WoW and I will never be so desperate to try it but afaik it is not aimed at people to "take a break between patches", which is clearly the option Yoshi is pushing.

It won't be anything fast, I doubt it will happen before 2018 or even later, they will milk the sub + shop as long as possible first.

In either, case, I am severely disappointed. This problem wouldn't exist if they would have prepared for this in the initial design of the game. Despite what people think, changing the design of a game retroactively is not an easy task and requires a lot of resources and re-balancing of pretty much dead content (if it wasn't dead already, they are essentially killing it with this). As a game designer, I would be very bummed to see my work abandoned like this but that's just me. Yoshi said before he had a 10-years plan for the game, he should have foreseen this issue when 2.0 was made. The game's design has essentially caused it to get trapped. And yes, this IS the easy (and most cash-grabby) way out, while not easy, there would have been different ways.

I won't make a huge "if this happens, I will quit" statement simply because Yoshi and SE won't give a shit about a few old players quitting, the potions will make up the lost money. No matter how Yoshi puts it, up to 29% of the community purchasing the potion is a HUGE jump in revenue, that's 1/3 of the community! Multiply that by 20-30€ per player and you have your math why we will definitely get these potions. It's not an if anymore, it's a when.

Unfortunately, a large part of the players that will purchase these potions will think they know it all and here comes the level 60 Paladin/Warrior that doesn't know he is a tank....

SE know what they are doing, they got statistics since the potions already exist for Korean and Chinese players.
People here are jumping into conclusions without anything to back their claims. They are spreading negativity.

You are over reacting quite a bit don't you think? It isn't even a thing yet. The producer/director's post just outlined how the jump potions work in Korea and Chinese versions of the game. Now, he is simply asking for feedback from North American players in this forum. Instead, he gets overly emotional posts like yours who are either too bothered to read passed the first paragraph because the phrase "jump potion" has you too triggered, or are threatening to uninstall and cancel subs. I wouldn't be surprised if he completely disregards the responses in this thread.

Why add a job tutorial when you can make 6 figures selling a potion?
Yoshi P was considering a Job specific tutorial for the game anyway. He discussed it as much in a interview at Fanfest.

.....So basically they went with the most obvious cash grab instead of another alternative?

Can we get side quests with trials in them now again? People can just buy potions to unlock trials and not complain they have to go through tons of side quests to unlock trials roulette.

I think a better way to encourage new players is to make it so people can level a job from 1 to 60 by just playing the main storyline quests. I'd even be in favour of reducing the amounts of quests in the MSQ that involve "Oh thanks, now go talk to XXX", XXX: "Oh thanks, now go kill 3 things and talk to YYY", YYY: "Thanks, go back to XXX" type quests and just focus on ensuring the narrative is clear and enjoyable.

It would be nice if it took less time to level from 1-50, and 50-60 as well since there are so many jobs. To me, the main importance of this game is providing:

    - An introduction for new MMORPG players from levels 1-50, an intermediate experience from 50-60, and then more 'experienced' gameplay from 60 onwards. (Note: This is partly why I think it is important to not have level boosters, as we can't constantly rely on having simple and boring content that is repeated over the following expansions).
    - a compelling story that players can be immersed in,
    - unique/engaging/fun side stories,
    - fun and exciting combat/battles,
    - relaxing and fun crafting/gathering/exploration,
    - Boss fights (i.e primals)
    - challenging end-game content
    - collecting vanity items such as mounts, minions, and weapons.

Taking this into account, if players miss levels 1-60, then there's a lot of content they aren't going to be able to appreciate as deeply as players who did it. For example, they won't understand the experiences of players who were devastated when Haurchefant was killed. I think for many players, the storyline plays a very big role in motivating us to accomplish things, such as beating primals or slaying raid bosses.

If there's anything to be taken from my comment, it should be that content from 1-50 should be significantly streamlined to be easier and quicker without detracting from the story. 50 - 60 should be made significantly easier so everyone can ensure their jobs are ready for the next expansion. I don't think levelling should be difficult. The content itself should be difficult.

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about jump potions in general, BUT as long as they only bring you up to the starting blocks of the current expansion I think that makes sense.

As for everyone screaming about how this will result in people not knowing how to do their rotations because they won't have learnt it gradually, BRD 52 Wanderer's Minuet, and BLM 60 Fire IV would like a word with you.
