Latency or Lag spikes since Dec 12 maintenance

Okay, ever since I've returned to this game back in October, I've been able to run this game on max settings with multiple people on the same network (got a 100mbps speed, and I'm wired in through a CAT6 cable directly to the modem), and maybe, maybe, experience some lag at times, and only in larger instances, such as Weeping City.

However, just prior to this maintenance, I started to experience odd lag spikes in the larger areas, and sometimes just flat out lag when out of dungeon, whether it be dismounting, or attacking a lone mob. And now it's been worse since the maintenance. I haven't even changed the hours that I play, but it feels like I'm playing on a slow PC with a low end net connection.

I've disabled DirectX 11 for now, lowered settings, but still experience these spikes. I can't even do Void Ark or Weeping City anymore, because I die in the dumbest avoidable AoEs, since they go off almost the instant they appear due to this issue. Oddly, the others in the same party have been having these issues, too.

IS THERE A SOLUTION? IS SQUARE ENIX GONNA FIX THIS??? This is the holidays, so I know there can be problems when people have more time off to play, but this is ridiculous. Everything else I run on this PC online runs perfect outside of FFXIV. What is going on???

I'm sitting here right now reading the forums because I cant do any content in game without major latency/lag. I actually froze up in Frontlines yesterday for 30 seconds. Even in Idyllshire I will watch folks "rubberbanding" while running down the street. And it seems to have all started after the emergency maintenance.

I just don't get why the team haven't realized this problem yet. Ever since that patch, the game just becoming unplayable. It's getting irritating now.

Yeah, exactly. I mean, the DirectX 11 disable had slightly fixed some of the lag spikes, so I'd suggest you do that via the launcher. However, it's not completely fixed. Hope they get this figured out over this weekend. I just want to enjoy my limited freedom since I just finished my college career today, before I get into the workforce and lose all that free time with it. I only get about a week to truly sit down and play, and of course, this happens....

Ive been having major lag to glad to know im not the only one every sense this holiday stuff they put in the game has been super slow

It's something that is out of our control as it appears to be intranet or server based at the North American Datacentre (Aether & Primal). There has been a few intermittent Internet issues with Level3 but the majority of problems are of Ormuco's doing & it's they whose systems SE use.

I can't enjoy this game anymore, I got back into it maybe two or three months ago after a two year leave when I got my new computer. It started out fine but recently I can't do any content, hell I can't even stand in areas without the rubberbanding of others around me, it's very annoying and it's been forcing me to just keep playing other games where I don't see these issues, which is sad because I have a few friends who don't want to see me go again.

Dramatic much? A few days of lag and connection issues isn't the game itself's fault.
