I was fairly sure I put seasonal stuff into the FC chest all the time, so I actually went to check and there is no such restriction, I could without trouble add and remove all kinds of old and new seasonal items.

I'm talking about newer seasonal items starting Make it Rain, not old seasonal items.
Ever since they started adding furnishing to the mog station newer seasonal items were added without the ability to be stored in the FC chest.
Try to store a Senior Sabotender Trophy, Firefly Lamp, Pumpkin Stew, Rising Pillar, Rising Banner, or any of the 3 furniture added in this Starlight.

Makes sense: imagine if it's on the Mogstation and it's tradeable... get ready to trigger the forums because RMT is official.I'm talking about newer seasonal items starting Make it Rain, not old seasonal items.

Mog station items have their own item ID that makes them untreadeable without affecting furniture earned from events, so this change wasn't made to prevent RMT, they want to encourage people to buy from the cash shop instead of storing items they earned.
I'm complaining because I can't store the items I have earned, I don't mind that new players can buy furniture from the cash shop, but those of us who were here shouldn't be punished by removing our ability to store items on alts through the FC chest. Please don't be cynical, this thread isn't about adding items to the cash shop, it's about the restrictions imposed on newer items.

Calling running around for 30 seconds talking to NPCs "earned" is a bit of a stretch, but regardless, just do what everyone else does and store it on a retainer. FC chests weren't designed to be used as personal hoards in the first place,.I'm complaining because I can't store the items I have earned, I don't mind that new players can buy furniture from the cash shop, but those of us who were here shouldn't be punished by removing our ability to store items on alts through the FC chest. Retainer space is already very limited and I'm paying a standard sub for a reason, regardless if you think it's a stretch or not, this is how all events worked until now. there's no reason why it should change to affect us like this, this doesn't affect people who want to buy from the cash shop, only people who earned the items.

Then put them on an alt retainer? 7 alts with 14 retainers = 98 tabs of space. Do the event on an alt, keep the items, and if you want the furniture to decorate at a later date, stick it in the FC house and pick it up. I don't understand why you'd need to stockpile so many if you weren't selling anyway.Retainer space is already very limited and I'm paying a standard sub for a reason, regardless if you think it's a stretch or not, this is how all events worked until now. there's no reason why it should change to affect us like this, this doesn't affect people who want to buy from the cash shop, only people who earned the items.

I think the issue at hand is items purchased at the time of the event happening, they are not tradeable then, and now not tradeable after 6 months from the event's conclusion. Items can be traded via plopping them down in housing and picking them up on the other character, but cannot be traded via FC chest, while previous items were tradeable via FC chest.
♥ Baby, tell me, what's your motive? ♥

they can go the dreamset route: Give it another item ID, change the name a bit and make it untradeable while the older version is still tradeable

They actually did that with all these items they added to the cash shop http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...291d96f3f2817d
They all have a different item ID.
