You have apartments for guaranteed housing, until housing is actually fixed that 45 day timer needs to stay.Auto-demolish after 45 days is ridiculous anyway. My swtor fortresses , 4 of them and my housing on wildstar are always available because those games used sense and a good enjin setting up the game. I am able to take a break when I wish from games to make it more fun. In this cheesy game, there are no seperate instanced single housing. If I leave here for a few months off like people sometimes do, I will never be back because of my house loss.
I have an apt and for storage they are great, however, I don't want to live in a box when I return.
Eeyup. Short of giving us instanced housing (which would allow us to have an overall much more freely customizable housing system...), this is pretty much the best "solution".The fairest way would be to make housing no longer a rare resource. Every week or two weeks, have a script analyze if more than 98% of homes are taken. If yes, then add new ward+subdivision. If during the next week or two week period, more than 98% of homes are taken, add TWO more wards+subdivisions. Next period, THREE. Keep doing this until there are more homes than players+people trying to buy to resell.
I assure you, this will cost less than 1/100th of the cost to do the car pushing simulator part of FF15, and make many times more people happier.
They could also make this timer for 30 days instead of 45. Look at the thread of this guy that didnt even visit his house for 40 days and wondered about the demolition message... Incredible.
It was 30 days before but fortunately they changed it to 45![]()
Here's another idea- It's kinda crazy and far out there, but I'm pretty sure it would solve the housing issue:
Open more plots.
You're welcome.
Uhm... how about earning money and then buy one of those slots from another player? If it is so important for you to have a house, then do it this way, you will need a whole lot of money (or all crafters and gatherers up) anyways to decorate it.![]()
That one sadly isn't quite as simple as it sounds. Because of the way the housing wards are designed, each housing ward is essentially a zone that is constantly running (because they'll likely always be at least one person somewhere in any of the wards). 12 wards, 2 subdivisions and 3 areas is a total of 72 zones always running which is more than every other zone in the game combined!
Unfortunately the current system just doesn't scale very well, if they could add more, they would have done so (it took over a year to add wards 9-12 for example).
Edit: And with 64 servers, that's a total of a whopping 4,608 zones that they have to constantly keep running without even adding any more.

Then they need to add more that don't use that current system. They're on the right track with the apartments, except for limiting them to just a single (and fairly small) interior room. To take care of the housing issue, they need instanced housing that's at least as good as (if not better than) the ward plots. Make it so that the only advantage of a house in one of the constantly-on wards is having neighbors, and everything else you can do with an instanced house/apartment.
Totally agree with every aspect of this. I was going to try to add to this but it's spot on. Also it's not impossible to find a house, it just takes a LOT of patience and persistence. Then they need to add more that don't use that current system.
