[DEV REQUEST] Please make the Hellhound Obtainable By More than Just the Top 100 PVP

There are a lot of new people joining PVP to try and get this mount (myself included) but because of either lack of time/experience/both, there's just no way we'll be able to climb to the top even if we tried to grind it out 24/7. It's a completely different world than PVE and that disheartens a lot of people.

I'm an avid PvPer and couldn't care less about glam or the minion. I do want that mount as an exclusive reward. I don't agree with the philosophy that's been going around lately about exclusives being handed out like candy; however I wouldn't mind a version of the mount (recognizable as different from PvP) be available for others at a comparably difficult activity at a later date. Just don't undermine the PvP community further by removing the exclusivity of ranked rewards. I'd love to see this mount become the exclusive for all ranked seasons. As you improve your skill; you'll still have a chance at getting it.

There are currently 6 (!) casual PvP mounts in the game, as well as several sets of armor per job (and one anything can glamour), two minions and a bunch of titles.

Or did all those suddenly disappear with the ranked rewards?

This is true, but as this mount is one that people begged for (assuming correctly that it's hellhound); I think making it the exclusive for all ranked seasons would encourage a lot more PvP participation. If a version of the mount that is OBVIOUSLY NOT from PvP were made available to those who don't run PvP, I wouldn't be completely against that.

It wouldnt really encourage PvP participation tho regular pvpers would either stop qing or just q to prevent mount collectors from getting it.

Also, because I'm getting PMs from PVP'ers and PVE'ers alike in game and outside of game, I wanted to take a moment to clarify some things, because my original intent may have gotten lost in the 24+ pages that this thread has become:

1) I agree that the top PVPers work really, really hard and deserve something unique and special for their efforts. Earrings are not that thing.

2) I wouldn't mind a different version of the Hellhound (if that's indeed what the mount will be) for PVE vs PVP but I'm thinking if they tossed earrings to the top 100, they won't have time to render, say, an armored hellhound for PVP. Then again, that *may* be why they extended this season to 5 months versus 3 for the others.

3) Ideally I'd like to see it tied to # of wins like the other PVP challenges are.

4) The reason we're not complaining about the airship is... I mean, really... look at it. Now look at the hellhound. Now look back at the airship. Which one would you realistically rather try for? Then the devs go and throw this much-wanted item to an exclusive few to try and build up Feast PVP. But...

5) Rewarding it to the Top 100 does not encourage more PVP participation. It encourages the top 100 to sit on their diamond ranks so that they don't lose points. A rating decay system would just piss everyone off though because if I worked for all those points and I have a regular job and family and other things to do, I don't want those points lost just because a few days pass.

6) PVP needs a lot more love and attention from the dev team. Even just a note to say "we're here and we hear you" would be refreshing!

7) Unless you're an avid PVPer, people who try for the top 100 as the season goes on have a snowball's chance in the Sagollii of actually reaching it. It's almost always the same people. Nothing wrong with that if you like PVP and that's your thing. But regulars don't like newbies and newbies don't like the High Quality {Table Salt} thrown around in there. Everyone loses and it's no fun. And if it's not fun, you're doing it wrong.

8) I'd even be perfectly fine if the PVPers got it first and then the rest of us had the opportunity to get it later (NOT on Mog Station don't you dare). I *want* to admire and congratulate them for a job well done!

They should just make it so the reward stays for every season as long as you place top 100 you can get it in any season.

They just need to change it to giving you a special token that you turn in for the mount so when they add more mounts you can pick which mount you want to exchange your top 100 placement token for.

This way you can get any of the mounts in any season, but you can only pick one mount reward per season. You still need to do the work of getting in top 100 but the mount is still obtainable anytime in the future and doesn't have such a limited time span to obtain.

I think that's reasonable, and it would motivate me to keep trying for the mount. My queues are always 100+ mins now, even in the evening, so I have no chance this season and it sucks as a mount collector lol. I'd at least be willing to try again next season. I like the idea of 1 token per top 100 placement to select 1 of any of the pertinent rewards, past or present.

Ohh, this post is a blast from the past. I even translated it to Japanese and posted it in their general forum (also got a couple dozen thumbs-ups). Season 3 is ending soon. I wonder if this suggestion ever made it to the dev team?
