Just know that on PS4 you have to use the media player app which will log you out of your whole game when you want to use it AND takes up a USB slot(need a flash drive or something). So you would have to run media player before you play FFXIV

As an Xbox One/PC guy, I wasn't aware of this (despite almost all my friends going for PS4 over X1). Thanks for the heads up! Though my comment about it being a single voice-command away was more meant as a tongue-in-cheek comment (someone had mentioned Google Home so I felt I had to bring Cortana into it).

And again, I feel it would further dilute housing/apartments to the point of being pointless. I have an apartment (no house, not even via my FC), and before anyone tells me "Limited use, you can't get an apartment", while I can't speak for servers like Balmung, I can tell you there are apartments aplenty still available on Odin, where I am. In all 3 districts, in both main divisions and subdivisions. I'm able to support it insofar as say a magitek mount upgrade allowing use of your orchestrion scrolls (essentially a mount-wide orchestrion), but I cannot support it for any 2 person mounts as I feel that will just kill whatever little use I feel the apartments still have.

Which is still far less than the lengthy development time/obstacle clearing that making an MP3 player would take. Go read the lengthy post made about the technical limitations of the orchestrion and how the sound is developed the way it is because of music compressing and severe technical limitations. And no, this has nothing to do with PS3.

People forget that A) XIV and XV have far different technical architectures, and their game engines handle sound processing far differently. and B) XIV stores a lot of information server side, wheras all of XV is offline, and considering XIII is 60GB on PC, and we already know that XV had to have a 10GB patch on day one, who knows how big the full game is. Just because something is done in XV does not make it easy to do in XIV, the two are extremely different games technically.

the things i don't like about the XV player, is that it stops playing all the time, and can't use it while riding chocobo, which is stupid, cause i don't like the chocobo theme. and it's missing a lot of nice songs.
if they add such a thing, it would probably be more like a linkpearl that's connected to your orchestrion, ortherwise it would make orchestrion, pointless...and if they make a linkpearl for it, all the nice songs would be locked behind shitty grinds, or sell for tonnes of gil.
it's a nice idea, but i don't see it happening.

When they added the orchestrion they explained that its pretty difficult for them to let us change the music at will (the orchestrion was only possible because its static and limited to a certain area; heck they even had to change it again so the music wouldnt be bound to the item itself). While FFXV was planned and coded with that feature in mind, FFXIV wasnt (and afaik the code of this game is pretty complicated and messed up - often a reason why we cant have nice things: They dont understand the code enough anymore) so... to me it really sounds like wasting time and ressource on something that most of us have found a different solution for...
