Wanting an explanation for said op of scholar cause I'm not seeing it in my experienc

So I see this all the time and I've been hearing it sense I started the game this summer. And I really wana have an explanation because in I guess now prob the almost 500 plus instances Ive done I havent experienced or seen with my own eyes. that scholar is op I totally get the whole pet thing and being able to dps more I guess with having your fairy out. But I just dont ever feel over confident with scholars in my parties, I never once have gotten the feeling that they are op. Are we referring to them in Alexander raid content only or the level 60 roulette's. So are we talking very well skilled scholars here or just the job itself. But when tanking I personally would much rather have a whm or an astro, I've had the worse experiences with scholars. So I really want to know the community overwhelming says that they are best healer but I honestly haven't noticed or just experienced it myself. Now dont get me wrong I can def tell when Im in a party with a very skilled scholar but I can say that about any of the healers. Am I the only one that feels this way or is it just overblown how good they are, if your comparing average player to average player would u still say scholar is op are that other jobs have better tools for ur more average player. I see alot just let the fairy do everything and this is exactly how I die when Im tanking just that people lettin the fairies do everything so please tell me what it is Im not seeing. Im not disagreeing players have been playing this game far longer than I have I haven't even reached half a year yet and have plenty of content to go but thus far Im not feeling like scholar is best healer in the game. Because in my experience they don't have very high heals at all I have seen more scholars crumble on large pulls than the other two healers.

A lot of it is exaggeration. Player skill usually makes a bigger difference than what class/job people are playing.

There is a lot of confirmation bias in your post. Personally I've had excellent experiences with every type of healer just as I've had bad ones.

OP talk came from the strength of their galvanize barriers making them irreplaceable for early raid progression when undergeared to survive big attacks and them being one of the most powerful solo jobs in the game with the fairy support allowing them to tackle more things solo than many other jobs can.

maybe its just me but I feel like the other jobs for the day to day content are set up in a way to where ur more average player can still be effective playing them where as with scholar , it takes alot more skill and to know the class

When talking about 'op jobs' you'll see WAR and SCH name pop a lot for reasons.

SCH can heal/shield + good DPs + fairy that is not affected by CS + very good MP recovery.

Not many players can bring out SCH full potential. Most go SCH in dungeons because the fairy can pretty much handle almost everything for them.
So if I were to compare average player skills, I would say SCH is very relaxing (at least for me).

I would assume that they get selfish in wanting to dps more thus letting tank HP go lower than normal but they know when to heal.

As for AoE, I usually shield the party before and after it hits. If my shields crit, party takes 0 or very little damage.
I try to keep my shields up to minimize damage done as much as possible because then I can top them all easily and return back to CS.

SCH is very good with damage mitigation. Yet I see many players only healing after the damage is done and not trying to use their tools to minimize it.

Also, a very good SCH will use both fairies (mostly during endgame) rather than using 1 fairy for the whole run.

Ill try that one but I dont think Ive ever seen a scholar change their pet mid dungeon, I am just not seeing it at all and as I was leveling scholar I was waiting to see like just this amazingness that set it apart from the other healers and I just dont. I will admit Ive spent most of my game time playing whm, but what your mentioning is a highly skilled player at the job Im sure whm or astro can be play at the same level. I have ran into far more just average players that make mistakes that screw up that die in lower level stuff that die in potd, and because of the complexity of the job it can be amazing but only in the hands of the right player. An average whm can be alot more effective than an average healer and thats a decent portion of the population so the job cant really be op because of the people playing it.

It's not that Sch is OP or Whm is OP or Ast is OP it's all on the healer an amazing healer can make the difference in a group compared to a bad healer sounds to me you ran into some really bad sch healers. I remember way back when Shiva EX was a thing I had a healer in my group that carried the group when everyone died, LB 3 when he was the last man standing during Shivas ice arrow attack and got us all up and we cleared it.

Those kinda things along with knowing the fight/dungeon, when to heal, when to squeeze DPS in are what all good healers know and think, most bad healers either think they know they can get away with something when they can't or overestimate the tanks abilities. Other things that bad healers do is not utilize Eye for an Eye, Virus, Disable etc.

I also think you're a little biased on Sch you've had bad experiences with em but you haven't had a good one? It's really all on the player not some "OP" class when it's not OP if you really wanna talk OP Asts new buffs are pretty friggen crazy when you can have a 30% Bole for 45 seconds or Enhanced Balance for 30% as well that lasts just as long. But all in all if your healer can't pull their weight then you'll see more of the mistakes and you'll criticize them more instead of seeing what they did good or what they did bad.

I can screw up six ways, sideways and still do what I need to do?

I have yet to find that class. They are all one AoE away from death. They are all steamroll machines if you know a dungeon like the back of your hand and have all your keys precisely where you need them.
