Even on a full pull their is little healing required except maybe the last pull in library depending on how dps is.

Did half of a dungeon without a tank the other day after they dropped was actually pretty fun as a healer actually had to heal and really pay attention.

If I see a healer not even trying to dps off goes the tank stance. Will still pop cooldowns etc including max-potions (<3 what potd has done for tanks in this) but that's more like "I hate seeing healers just stand around" than "I like making them work hard".

As a healer, I appreciate a tank who feels their healers out and communicates, instead of forcing a stressful situation on them due to the current meta, or in spite of it.

Not many healers want to heal 100% of the time. It's stressful as shit, and you're replacing one extreme with another. Most of just don't want to be DPSing 90% of the time. It's not what most of us signed up for. If you as a tank can pace the run to give me a nice balance of both healing and DPSing, you get MY comm.

    ^ What Gemina said.

I'm a returning player - I take long breaks every now and again and so it takes me a while to get a feel for what's acceptable to do as a healer. (It seems like every time I come back, there's a different community stance on what's good or not haha)

If the tank is taking an ass-ton of damage, I'm happy to sit and heal; if the tank is competent and isn't taking much damage, I'll try and stance dance a bit. - I like to be busy, but not frantic (does that make sense?)
I'm not a fan of overly-stressful twitch type healing though if tanks go absolutely nuts without regard to their own abilities (or mine - I'm a little under-geared since I keep taking long-ass breaks, working on that though).

I'm happy if I can strike a good balance between heals and DPS Keep me on my toes every now and again, but don't force someone to be stuck in a stressful situation because 'it's the done thing right now' while everyone else happily facerolls their dps buttons.

Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means

Exactly what I was going to post. I have no problem letting you heal full time if you only want to heal, but I'm gonna make sure you're working as hard as we are.

Though I did have one who was just legit nervous and was kind enough to tell me. Put grit back on and eased the pace.

I'm a WHM and I don't mind working hard as a healer. I play a healer class for the purpose of healing and I rather be healing, casting preventive buffs, and cleaning debuffs than DPSing.

The issue comes with random matched party in Duty Finder, you don't know what kind of experience and skills the other people in the party are about the content you're about to do. So if you go to hard directly and bad things happen, that's fine but don't complain about it and please try less harder for the next attempt.

As a healer I hate people dying on my watch even if it is because they don't dodge AOE or lethal mechanics. That's why when in a random group I just keep everyone full 100% + Stoneskin anytime when possible, with additional regens if I know there is incoming room wide damage. I'm basically in "ALL WILL GO BAD" assumption mode and I prefer to be careful than sorry because someone forgot to dodge something and died because he was only at 80% HP when he got hit.
Then if everyone is topped up, and I feel comfortable about the current context I will go DPSing if I can afford the mana.

When playing with people I know or in a premade party that's another story and I play differentely.

I wish the majority of healers would use a simple flow chart when in any dungeon:

Does the tank have regen? If yes,
Is the tank competent enough to use cool downs? If yes,
Do I have access to one (of many) instant healing abilities? If yes,
    Dps.

Literally that's all you have to do as any healer. Even AST has plenty get out of jail free cards when it comes to healing in dungeons. I will never understand a healer's mentality that they only "heal because I'm a healer."

I'm glad you brought that up, and it's my current issue. I don't mind the large pulls and love the increased healing, but I seriously despise starting the dungeon 100 miles per hour. Let your healer cast protect and mitigation skill, and pull a couple of packs to feel things out before hitting the accelerator. I can't emphasize enough to this a random pickup group. No one knows anything about anyone.

If I'm ever healing a rando tank and they do like some of you un-deservedly salty people are saying and drops tank stance while there's still mobs left before the boss gate I'll let a wipe happen and leave. Because then you're just admitting you COULD be tanking more and you COULD be tanking better, but you'd rather pretend you have a red icon instead of blue. And that's just insulting. I'd feel better about accommodating a small pulling leaf tank than a lazy ~Savage Raider~ who wants to inflate their parser.

On the actual topic though, yeah if I'm DFing I'll ask the healer if theyre okay with big pulls. I have an okay idea by now of what my tank can handle and I absolutely love pushing my limits on all my classes. At level 31 with level-appopriate (non synced down) gear my level 31 WAR was able to pull 10+ mobs in brayflox while my healer friend with his newly unlocked AST also in non synced gear kept me alive. Utilizing everything the game gives me to accomplish great things is astounding and I'll take that feeling over new gear most days. So yes, if a healer is DPSing I will absolutely PULL MOAR because if they have time to DPS it means we're under-utilizing both mine and the actual DPS classes' potential too.
