Aw, I messed up the Lahabrea's Number question for sure, and I think the What Year Is It question, as well. No book for me!

And while I did NOT screw up the elements question, I still feel that it's mighty stupid that Wind extinguishes Fire. The vast majority of the time, Wind FEEDS Fire, bigtime. Still, given the elements that we have, it's pretty much inevitable that one or more of the pairings is going to be a bit questionable. Like "Ice blocks Wind" in FFXI.

I've been meaning to post here for a bit since this is where I saw the contest, but I kept forgetting, haha. I believe I won the grand prize, which I received recently and was very happy with. I wanted to say thanks again to Gamer Escape for running such a cool contest! While I ended up being right on my first guesses for all the questions, I'm definitely glad I looked some of them up to be safe. I feel like Lahabrea's was the most meta and tricky of them, since all there is to go on is the numbering of his minions who barely appear if you haven't done the summoner line.

I was pretty amused, therefore, that so many people failed the elemental one. I remember how wtfed I was to see the elemental wheel(s) here the first time I did, so I knew it wasn't water. Oh, and "ice blocks wind" applies here too. =P Fire > Ice > Wind > Fire. I feel like they'd have done better to do a pokemon esque system of multiple weaknesses and resists, but I guess it wasn't worth the effort for something that's essentially just flavor. I was also amused to see how many people got Gerolt's wrong since he has nothing to do with the Manderfails, but I guess I can't really blame people for not reading the relic quests when their storyline is possibly the most uninspired thing ever, haha. Either way, seeing the results was definitely interesting, and I'm very happy with the lore book!

Thanks so much for popping in! Being that I was assisting GE in setting up a large scale, general contest, I really had to steel myself to the very real possibility that a collector's item (of which very few currently exist with that set of signatures) might be won by someone who wouldn't treasure it. It gives me the warm and fuzzies to know that it went to someone who'd actually been to the lore forums before the contest existed, lol.

May you always have fond memories of Eorzea, good sir!

A second place winner (runner-up?) checking in! Huge thanks to GE, the last couple weeks of work in November were dragging me down and that unexpected e-mail really made everything brighter ^^

Been a lurker on the lore forums since their inception, back when I didn't know much of anything of Eorzea or its lore. Been devouring the information in that lovely lovely book and couldn't be happier! As a longtime hoarder of lore regarding FFXI, it took me longer than most to fully immerse myself in this game's universe but the lively discussions and debates in these boards has helped me feel at home in Eorzea just like I used to in Vana'diel.
