It is still a promotion for SE. And a promotion is there to get new customers. How will they get new customers if they only give out the codes to those who ask for them?
I dont know which contract they have but I am quite sure that if its only for those who ask than SE would have written this down somewhere. Or maybe give us a hint. They told the people from the U.K. that they need to send in a photo of the codes. So they would have told us that we would need to ask them too. And the ones that bought something online should normally also just get their codes. We did not need to tell them that we want it or not. The amazon deals also never asked if someone wants it or not. Anyone that bought something that was part of the conditions got it. And I am sure that a lot of people did not care about them too. But this way is the only way to maybe get new customers for FF14. Really Gamestop is the only deal where you have to ask in some stores if you can get the code..in the Japanese promotions with the drinks you also always got the codes.
I dont really want to write so much negative posts about Gamestop but its kinda funny that the other promotion with them in Finland and the other regions there, also had problems with the conditions. SE wrote there that people just need to buy something for a certain amount of money and yet Gamestop said that its only for Square Enix games. Yet some people could just buy cards for steam in some stores and still get the code. I think that is quite telling.
And if I buy a game or other electronic goods I will always keep the receipt. Otherwise it can be really though to trade it in if there is something wrong with it. They dont even have to tell every customer about the code. People that are interested what this code is about will just look it up in the internet and see that this is for this game. Maybe someone that does not visit the lodestone or this forum would just notice the campaign for the first time. If its necessary to ask for the code they should have written this down! But nowhere in the campaign was a hint that this is only if you ask for it.
And there are cases where people got theirs without asking. So it seems that even Gamestop itself does not have one opinion about it (which is kinda bad). And how bad would this be if you buy something for 20€ in a store, browse their website, only to see the campaign, play the game or have someone that plays it, but notice that the time is nearly over..after being happy that they still have the receipt and still have time to use it, they notice that they dont have one on theirs even though the website says that it should..but its Sunday or they dont the time to go back to the store and will miss out of it. Yes this might be someone unlucky but if you have a promotion going with certain conditions than you should give out those promotion codes on every single purchase that meet these conditions.
I had a local store near me (if you count 40km in total near) but they closed some time ago. The nearest one is now 80km away. So I was quite happy that the "no online" comment from Gamestop was wrong. This is all just my opinion on this. If you are really happy with your Gamestop than this is totally fine. I am not and I will try not to buy something there again.
I feel for all the people in the Netherlands. Our campaign was not really that smooth but at least we know the conditions from SE and can buy it now. Really hope that SE will post informations about your campaign soon.

Actually came here to see if there was news or something odd. As PU doesn't seem to have any promo codes in their December magazineon the positive the magazine is a fun read.
but still more codes would have been nice. Wonder if we can even expect something in the very last chance January edition. Still gotta see that happen to believe it.
Wether we do or don't get I feel bittersweet on the promo as it isn't fair chances for everyone. I am happy for everyone who was/is lucky to get them. Sad for all who miss out.
Say is it possible for the promo team to somehow create a new one for 2017 for those who miss out or something? Because it is kind of messy the way it goes. Yet I do think that the head of promo teams (no idea how this works) can make something work or figure out?

Remember these are only humans too so for being just humans german promotion was pretty smooth there are some bad apples everywhere but most part of the promotion was smooth. I would rather have not a single online promotion there are alot of ppl who just send stuff back after redeeming the code to get their cash back which happened at the NA amazon promotion for example.


That's not what happened with the NA Amazon promotion, what happened was people cancelling their order after receiving the promotion codes. The French Amazon promotion got around that by making it so promotion codes weren't handed out until after the shipping confirmation had been sent (at which point, cancelling an order would no longer be possible).
Idk how law works in other countries but in Germany you have the right to send back stuff within 14days to get your money back without giving a reason. Most of the time you can do the same in local stores too cause stores want to keep customers but they aren't forced to do so unlike online. I know how Na promotion worked but I wrote it so it can be applied to more than just NA. Well Netherlands so far got like 3 Weeks left till the Codes will expire on December 31st
and then doing a Campaign also which may take like 2 weeks.... hopefully like this week or else you guys wont have much time with the Codes![]()
