Red Mage.

It should a support/melee dps as well.

Blue Mage seems the more obvious choice for magic tank to me.

Here is my reasoning:
Red mage - red job icon, Blue mage - blue job icon, BLU, RDM, BLM, WHM full 4 person (colour) mage party with all roles covered!

Why is Dancer so popular all of a sudden?

Mystic Knight. It is a job that uses black and white magic to imbue its blade with elemental affinity.

That's very nice, I wish you the best of luck with getting an enchanted weapon user in game. That's nothing to do with red mage or what I'd want to see an RDM tank do, though. I want to see it balancing it's use of tp and MP, using both spells and swords to directly attack the enemy, rather than simply putting a glow on a weapon, and using defensive spells to both defend itself and support the party at large. DRK shows how few defensive CD's a proper tank really needs depending on recast timer, so there's absolutely no reason a spell casting tank couldn't be feasible. If you're worried about getting interrupted, add in a trait that increases the damage threshold for spell interruption to 30-40% and that's it.

I picked samurai, it's probably gonna be in 4.0 anyways but samurai is what I want and I'd love to have it as a DPS.

Was a tough choice between bst or blu, but I think they possibly could manage blu easier then another pet job...pet ui now is horrible, control is so slow, responsiveness painfully sluggish, bland spells, pet movement too slow etc so a better bet would be blu imo.

Would love to see it as an equal mix of caster and melee ,dd, definitely not another tank

So my answer is... any job that is a mage/caster DPS.

For those who haven't played an FF with a Job System:

Beastmaster: Controls animals. Usually a physical class.
Blue Mage: Learns spells and skill from enemies. Known as Vampire in Bravely Default and Catmancer in Bravely Second.
Chemists: Uses items. Usually can use items more proficiently and can mix items for crazy results. Also known as Alchemist or Salve-Maker.
Corsair: Pirates with gambling buffs and guns.
Dancer: Uses dances for things. Sometimes buffs, sometimes debuffs. Most famous are XI's, which was a jack-of-all-trades, and Tactics', which was a debuffer.
Fencer: Physical job that uses swords (especially Rapiers) and usually debuffs things.
Geomancer: Mage that usually involves the environment with their magic.
Green Mage: Mage that focuses on buffs and debuffs
Hunter/Ranger: Archers. May have traps or even summon animals.
Mystic Knight/Rune Fencer/Spell Fencer: Puts magic on their blades and/or themselves, usually elemental spells, sometimes debuffs.
Necromancer: Uses dark magic and the dead
Puppetmaster: Fights alongside a puppet
Red Mage: Can use Black/Offensive Magic, White/Healing-and-supportive Magic, and Physical Attacks. Jack-of-all-trades class. Mentioning XI can cause a war...
Samurai: Uses Katana, wears heavy armor, and sometimes throws gil at enemies (for god knows why)
