I do not PVP,but, if SE decides to disable chat, they must have a good reason for that. The toxicity must be really really big to make SE do this.

I've tried the Feast once, when it had just come out. I was a healer, since it's my main role and I also had previous experience from healing Frontlines where I've done fairly well (76 first place / 63 second place / 43 third place, rank 33). I did my best but as the fight was very different to anything I had experienced before, it didn't go too well. After a very short time I started to get so many awful comments from my random team members in chat, I just left the fight and didn't try that ever again.

After this change, I might even try it. Based on my experience I understand very well why they chose this route.

This is a positive change, now we can actually focus on what's important - PvP. Square-Enix noted a pervasive issue and has decided to amend it, just like they do with other parts of the game; they wouldn't waste time or resources fixing that which was not broken. Here's my vote for keeping the new system.

Could not agree more. So many times a newish healer has left the fight right in the start or middle way due to excessive flaming. Really, really hate when people flame each other instead of gaming and trying to win. Have lost many many matches because of this.

Yeah! Maybe now that the atmosphere won't be nearly as toxic at it is now, I could actually check the feast out. The current situation is unsustainable for the PvP-scene as new players are being turned away by the veterans because they are not on par with their standards.

Everyone I know who plays PvP are forced to deal with excessive abuse and toxicity. If disabling the chat alleviates the situation even slightly, I'm happy with the decision.

As an experienced PvPer, I've definitely seen my fair share of really toxic comments. It's not usually directed at me because I am experienced and knowledgeable in what I'm doing, but I can try to empathize with how it makes others feel when they are trying to get into PvP for the first time. That's why I never insult anyone, especially new players who have absolutely NO IDEA what they are doing. At the end of the day, you're stuck with this player regardless -- if it's going to be a loss, it's going to be a loss. So why fuss and insult them? Is it because you are trying to drive them away from PvP entirely? In the end, anyone who insults other players is only shooting themselves in the foot. If we keep driving people away from PvP, the community won't ever grow to a point where it becomes something that SE puts serious effort into. Sure, Frontlines and The Feast are fun, but how much resources are they going to pour into such a niche thing? If Yoshi P himself didn't outright say he loves PvP, I doubt they would have given it more than it already has. So, please... when you encounter people. Be a little kinder. Offer advice. If you don't have the energy or care to give advice, maybe you should just link them to a tutorial on how to do The Feast (very basic rules/strats) and leave it at that. Does one even exist? We could make one. We need to be more inclusive or PvP is going to continue to be a really niche thing. I don't know about the rest of you, but I would really like party play to pick up. That's where we can get *really* competitive. But, it's so rare to find a group to queue against you that most people do solo queues.

Anyway... Even though I've definitely seen the toxicity that everyone is talking about, I don't think it is rampant enough to warrant cutting off chat entirely. It doesn't happen THAT often, and there are always different degrees of it. The really awful offenders are few and far between. And they get SO UPSET that it's almost funny to watch them rage. (But I guess I have a thick set of skin and even if I do become the target, I won't care because I know they are just being ridiculous.) The majority of the time, what you'll see is just frustrated players putting off some steam, which is common in any competitive setting. I don't think the solution is to silence everyone. This PvP community is actually pretty tame compared to other competitive games... yet, those games aren't censored... and the reason why is because they recognize communication is important. Even in MOBAs where you have the present commands/communication macros (like they are planning to add to this game), you still have the option to type.

Change is good, i realy hate those custom macros. Above all else i hate/despise anybody who uses those se.x sound macros. I just loose any interset in fight whatsoever if someone starts using them. It would be best however if they did not disable chat, but disabled those system sounds during Feast and limited to 5~10 entries of chat per match, thats all. The biggest change however i would like is that clickable commendation buttons would appear right IN the scoreboard next to each of our teammate name (also in frontlines). And you would be possible to give comm even after they leave the duty.

At some point it becomes a no-win situation for both SE and players. If they push this, they risk completely alienating players who were dedicated to the mode in the first place. Sure, perhaps then it may attract newer players, but without the dedicated playerbase, it becomes just throw away content, and very likely dead besides. If they remove ranked Feast, that would really invalidate many players' reasons to even bother with it at all (though many who actively fight for high rank enjoy 8v8 unranked matches together as a way to simply enjoy the Feast's arena-style combat without the stresses of ranked competition). In the end though PvP IS about competition, and a certain degree of competitive spirit is due. Players who want to really achieve something or fight to win an award don't want to be hindered by someone "just kinda trying it out". That's not to discourage new people, but I liken it again to trying to join a farm party when you've never cleared the content, nor know the fight. It's the breakdown of communication and failure to work together that causes toxicity. PvP and the players who enjoy it aren't simply monsters looking to ruin someone's day, and it's not fair that that terrible stigma is thrown about constantly and goes completely unchallenged.

For SE to simply apply a blanket fix in this manner is akin to furthering and acting upon that terrible stigma. It's not right, it's overkill. And I say if this is how they try to solve PvP's toxicity, how will they ultimately handle toxicity issues in the much-larger PvE component of the game. This is important to think about too.

I wish there were good PvP guides. If they exist I can't find any good ones on Google.

So I TRIED to learn by playing. I figured my PVE rotation would work cuz that's the highest DPS output.

Then I learned like 4 months into learning PVP that my rotation is burst based. Not so much sustain based.

I learn everything super slow, because there are so many situations I have to repeat run into until I learn.

And because There was no guide people weren't dying losing happens then people get angry

So I dropped out cuz of toxicity
