If old content is dead , then whats the issue with a jump potion?

Although admittedly you're a very extreme case because most people won't abandon the MSQ to run PotD hundreds of times instead... But yeah, point still stands, MSQ pre-HW needs a serious redesign.

Am I the only one that would ever wonder why they would re-design something that was written to how they wanted it at the time? In it's truest essence, Final Fantasy XIV, while an MMO, is still a story driven game. Why would they ever devote resources to "trim" it? A few of us are already upset that was is story from 1.0 left out on their "summed up" bonus disc release titled The Waning of the Sixth Sun.

While it's an inconvenience at most for most people to do the MSQs, I don't see them going back and re-working old content solely for the sake of time.

I'll answer this as I just went through it in the last few weeks.
I don't think many people are talking about the 1-50, its the filler in between 2.0 and 2.55, close to 100 missions with no XP/progression.
For people that were at the level cap as all these updates came out 3 months apart over a 15 month period, its cool, something to do, but for new players coming through or people wanting to do another alt, its a daunting task, made worse by the sheer amount of non story related fetch stuff.
Id hate to see the story lost and cut out altogether, but I truly don't believe it would be hard to join quite a few of the relevant story parts together and trim 80% of the filler away for that section of the game.
