Sophia EX is ridiculously easy. Unless your party is dreadful, as long as you can spot when Cintamani is coming up, you can snooze through it.

Nidhogg and Thordan EX are good fights to practice your healing on IMO, if your party isn't ridiculously over-geared. They test you on mana conservation, using your abilities more strategically, reacting to sudden heavy damage bursts, pre-casting and timing spells (Akh Morn, tankbusters) quick multiple target heals (Geirskogul, the two knights phase in Thordan), moving while healing and keeping up with mechanics - general all-round healing boot camp, really.

Weeping City with a bad group (ignores adds, stands in shit, etc.) is a very solid healing check.

The final boss of the vault is a good challenge for practice. Aside from that if you can get a que to go through try out Odin(synced). The healing check can be really nasty especially if you have a group of people who have no idea what they're doing and can't dodge properly.

I don't see the point of practicing healing in obsolete content because healing is all about knowing the fight and planning your resources. Just grab some friends and run Sophia or A9S, both are rather forgiving and you will learn about fights that are actually relevant.

I would say A11 and A12 normal are similar in their healing requirements than Sophia ex. A12 has tank busters and you'll have to pay attention to Prey targets while A11 has heavy AoE healing in some parts of the last phase. Especially A11 also seems to have many people dying in Duty Finder, which is good practice for Sophia ex...

I can still be challenged in The Vault at ilevel 250 with a party that is either new or isn't good at the mechanics. Even with a good party it can still be healing-intensive at times.

    "obsolete"

    "relevant"

Lol. Why not just tell everyone that don't run the most recent extremes and the tougher savages that they aren't playing correctly?

Telling someone to learn healing by only playing "relevant" content is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. There is a lot you can learn from older content, like Extreme Primals and Coils (especially at Min-ilvl).

@OP: Many of what has been suggested are good places, and it really comes down to how "good" you are at healing and how much you need to "learn".

You really don't need to practice for Sophia EX. Just learn it with a good co-heal. Then, after you understand the mechanics, tell your co-heal (especially SCH coheals) to focus on DPS and "solo heal." THEN try actually solo healing. Try to get a handle on your MP limitations while with a coheal, so you can see how much you can DPS while still solo healing, without mana starving. I was at 830+ DPS (lots of optimization could have been done/no bard, but it was a fun first attempt) solo healing as an SCH a little while back and by the end of it my MP was scraping.

    Where did I imply that?

Well sure, you can spend days doing old Raids or Trials with min-ilvl. Still won't help you that much. OP wants to do Alex Savage and Sophia, so why not start there?

Agree, flow of fights and required healing throughput are so fight specific, there's little reason once you know how to burst heal to go back and do old content. Jump in head first and learn from your mistakes. Most high level content is about properly handling the specific mechanics of the fight, not uber-heal checks (though some do exist)
