I suppose that is true. Guild Wars 2 took this route, where you could get random drops, or use dungeon tokens to buy the gear. However, I disliked the system they had too. Personally, I find it's hard to beat WoW's system.I'm not saying they are. All I'm saying is that you shouldn't take away the "predictable" gear that some players rely on, and replace it with "chance" gear. You suggested taking away one, to add another, in your OP. There's no reason why there can't be both. If anything, it will add even more content, that perhaps both styles of players can enjoy. If there were guaranteed rewards alongside the chance rewards, everyone would benefit.
I find this fear very unfounded, then, you can finish up the current mainstory almost with only quest rewards, dungeon rewards of low entrance, potd and/or crafted gear. Also you contridict yourself, you talking like the 2 paragraphs about f inishing story, but at the last line you say i want "at least" (which is hillarious btw.) being able to finish everythin with minimal effort beside sub-savage raids, which is like what, 95 % of the current content right now?
The point where the problem starts, and a problem this games actually has because gear is handed out like candy, where player request gear for easy content without the purpouse, as you describing, progressing the msq. Do you need a anima weapon for story? No you dont. People want to be mindless expert roulutes because they want tomoestones, for what? gearing them through the msq? dont belive that a bit
your posts sound still like its about the rewards, not the content.
Actually wow has this route too, they simply just dont hand out token gear/crafted gear of the level of mhytic raiding/mhytic+ ger.
Which who would think should be baseline and normal

My posts are about the content. I personally don't want story progress "locked" behind having to do savage-level content. I certainly don't want to farm savage-level content for gear, before being able to do other things that are sub-savage-level. If anything, I'm saying I don't want it to be about the gear. But if it has to be about the gear, I don't want the casual system to be taken away as a viable option to obtain ilvl minimums.
Reputation gear is a thing like in all expansions.
so you are finde if like ex primals would not be a joke like sophia but there would be a easy mode with no item drops? How is this contradicting?

The normal/extreme modes they currently have are fine. If people want extreme modes to be harder, I don't care at all. I'm simply saying I don't want to be forced to do an EX to do the next normal mode. Eg, I don't want to have to clear/farm Nidhogg EX to get clearance/gear to be able to do Sophia Normal.
Moreover, I'm saying I don't want to play with the RNG gods for "must have" gear. If I absolutely need gear to raise my ilvl, I would like the certainty of tome gear to remain. At least it feels like I'm working towards something, instead of praying something will drop on that 100th run of Dungeon Y.
is this now a yes or no to my question? also this was only a expnasionThe normal/extreme modes they currently have are fine. If people want extreme modes to be harder, I don't care at all. Ah, you mean reputation. I don't really consider that system to be similar, but I guess in a way it is. In Legion, obtaining the reputation gear isn't that huge of a thing either, as by the time you're far enough in the story to obtain the items, you've already outgeared them.

1.) NPC's for dead content (aka anything not in current patch cycle)
2.) New Jobs
3.) Open World content like campaign from ff11
