Developers: Why are you "limiting" FFXIV to the PS3 as you limited FF11 to the PS2?

Game looks far better than most things on the market as it is, so i dont see any limitations at all.

Except whats holding the game back is the current "Crappy" engine...
obviously not designed by SE's Dev Team at all.

So ya, this game will kickass once the new Engine is done.

and the xbox crap...lol xbox360 was more powerful than the PS2, but it didnt stop
the xbox360 & game from crashing everytime it was besieged...lol

PC gamers not often get FF games to play with, so id be happy with what you got right now.

Honestly they probably should just make a PS4 version why release a PS3 version at the very end of its life cycle. They are just going to be limited by 6 almost 7 year old technology.

Can you provide a link that Sony stated the PS3 won't be around in 2013 and unsupported by every developer? The company I'm at had plans to support the PS3 well into 2013.

Also, the PS3 is just as powerful as a standard PC, they're not going to be limited by the PS3 at all.

Games for PS3 will be made in 2013 just not that many as now. Pretty much a given that Sony will announce PS4 at E3 2012 for release sometime in 2013 at this point game companies will be producing less new games for PS3.

The PS3's graphic chip is based on a gf 7800 and you can't tell me with a straight face that it is anywhere near as powerful as a gf 570 or 580 or the current ati cards.

Sony may or may not announce a PS4 next E3, but even if they do, chances are good you won't see it 'til 2014 at the earliest, they're just not in a hurry to jump into the next platform.

And yes, everyone knows that PC hardware trumps console hardware, especially after a few years under its belt. What you seem to neglect to mention is that devs are also able to better utilize and optimize for a console's hardware, since they're only dealing with one specification, and this has always made console games perform much better than a comparatively spec'd PC.

You are not getting my point. THE FUTURE of this game will be LIMITED. As years go by and the game grows, the PS3 will start to hold back FFXIV

I agree with this, I wonder what Yoshi-P thinks of it and how they plan to avoid this situation?
Or, they just plan on releasing new MMORPG every now and then (every 5 to 10 years).

Have any of you who are saying Ps3 will limit this game played the Battlefield 3 Beta on PC and Ps3? How about Crysis 2? Or any one of the new up coming high end games? The system didn't limit the capabilities of the PC game. What they did was reduce the settings the game would play on Ps3 so that the ps3 could run it. Those games were built around PC then they worked on having it work on Ps3. If Square Enix plays it smart like that, there will be no issues later on.
