    Skipping MSQ

Seeing a lot of threads about level jumping potions and one of the excuses thrown about a lot is new players. Thought I'd offer an alternative, buying the game and expansion(s) would automatically unlock the following:

Character select - create new character - select to start at 'A Realm Reborn' lv.1, 'Heavensward' lv.50 and eventually 'Stormblood' lv.60.

    Problem solved right?

Edit: Treating 'A realm reborn/Heavensward/Stormblood' as a trilogy and letting weird people start with the 3rd one if for some reason they want to isn't something I particularly want, but considering the push for it (oh please won't someone think of the newbies!) it's by far the better option.

I think it could even be quite good if they include a 'new game+' option as well. I'd actually quite like to go back through the story on my character, if I'd started with 4.0 and never done it before it'd be great doing it the first time and getting xp for a 2nd or 3rd class at the same time. New guy hears about FFXIV from his friends, dives straight into the latest expansion with them, and then can unlock 2.0 and 3.0 from the Wandering Minstrel and play them to level alt classes. New guy is happy, the old MSQ stuff is still useful, cash shop is kept in check.

What, exactly, is the difference? Except now Square isn't profiting off people who skip. In fact, your scenario actually would allow bots/RMT directly into Heavensward and Stormblood for free. Part of the reason a cost exists is to deter those who might abuse it.

    It doesn't cost us extra.

Do you get commission from cash shop purchases or something?

Not our job to stop botters, I'm prepared to help out with the report button (I barely see any bots at all these days) but the 'pay extra so we can do things that should be considered standard' excuse is starting to wear thin.

And it wouldn't be free for bots/RMT, they would still have to purchase the expansion.

It should. You want to skip content others had to level through. The trade off to that is having to pay extra.

More money for Square Enix translates into more content for FFXIV or other titles they produce I happen to like.

Right. And SE does that jump by not allowing people a free skip for essentially every job. At what point was skipping to 60 ever considered standard?

And turning this into a flag upon creating a character would make it accessible for every new character made.

It's not our job, which is why SE would charge a premium for the potion, as a limiting factor for RMT bots. Also, as a business, paying £20 for ARR, £15 for HW and £30 for the potion, is more than paying £20 and £15, which means more profits.

I'm sure the EU servers being moved to an actual place in EU and the new inventory increase are HILARIOUS jokes.

So Square just arbitrarily decided to triple Stormblood's budget for giggles? If they aren't making money, they wouldn't do that.

I don't want to skip content, and I don't want anyone else skipping content either. However, the poor newbie who has to play through hundreds of story quests and misunderstood altaholic who doesn't want to play through it for the 3rd or 4th time are often brought up as reasons for a skip option.

If those concerns mentioned (especially the ones regarding new players) are valid, then charging for it shouldn't even be considered.
Not only does it go well beyond 'just cosmetic', it's literally progress for money, but the length and apparent tedium of 2.0 is so bad that it's driving away new players, if that's the case then it's imperative that skipping it be offered as an option to everyone. No one new is going to decide "2.0 sucks, best hand over another $30 to skip it, see if 3.0 sucks just as hard."

I can't hear you over all the money that was put into FFXV.
