I agree that we need a more bestial-looking race. I love the miqo'te, and the Au Ra are nice too, but all the races we have are humanoid, and we need future races that break that mold somewhat.

If I have understood correctly from the forum, the Asian community doesn't fancy the more beast-like looks like the western community tend to use (The Elderscrolls as an example). While "we" go more for the animals with human features "they" go with humans with animal features.
Not sure how much of this that is true or not. Just picking up stuff I read so take it with a grain of salt.

Even though it might have some truth behind it, FFXIV is a world wide MMO with alot of players from around the world. So personally I think it would be foolish to not include stuff that might attract others.
But they have also said that it's due to technical difficulties and all that extra work to re-fit old gear to new models. So sticking with the old human bodies makes it alot easier.
Not to mention all the hairstyles that would not fit (probably) the more beast-like races so they would have to make a whole load of new ones just for 1 new race (to begin with).

I would love to have a big animalistic race. I loved the Charr in Guild Wars 2. Loved them since I first saw them in Guild Wars 1 many many years ago.
I tend to play the biggest, meanest beast/humanoid in most games and go berserk with him in close combat. ^^

Odds of a beastly or non-cute race are extremely low, sadly. Though I would definitely like Beastman Glamour Prisms. Instead of getting armour/clothing to dress up like a Beastman, it makes you look exactly like one. All SE has to do is fit weapons onto them and work on animations for weapon skills, magic and abilities, as well as emotes. No redesigning armour needed. Sylphs and Moogles would probably be the hardest to figure out.

It's a yes and no situation. When it comes to the face, it can almost match that of a Hellsguard. Now, if the picture was of a Ronso female as seen in FFX (which have a more bestial face), then it would not look like a Roegadyn at all.

I don't care what race it is, as people have stated before and I shall say myself - so long as it's not just a hyur with "racial cosmetics".

Never mind the height and muscle mass being on even ground, but both races have the heavy square faces and wide, flat noses.
I said this in the Ronso thread, but it's the same issue as often brought up as an argument against Viera. If Viera are just Miqo'te with different ears and tail, then Ronso are just Roegadyn with different ears and tails. Way too similar unless some major alterations are made.

Robots aren't new. They were in Final Fantasy Legend II.

And they had a way cooler design than anything that would be in FFXIV. >:O

Not a Final Fantasy game. But you probably already knew that. I hope you already knew that.
