Development costs IMO is supposed to be money SE spent before the game is released; Square is basically asking us to fund their second stage of development while we continue to play the old version of the game with promises of mocked-up screenshots saying that it will get better within a year's time. That's the part I'm wary about.

Entirely false. They're asking us to pay a subscription fee to play a game that will continuously be updated leading to 2.0 (not the old version of the game, it's not like development is going to suddenly stop from here to 2013. Quite the opposite).

Which is a whole different pair of sleeves. No one holds you at a gunpoint to pay, by the way. Don't want to? The market is full of free to play alternatives. Have fun with those while you wait for this game to be where you want it to be.

Right, we will continue to get patches here and there as they slowly develop it towards 2.0, but the problem with this is they're asking us to give them money to fund those patches. With the way you worded your post, you seem to think that I don't want to pay to play an online game. That is entirely false - I'm willing to pay for a game that is complete, such as SWTOR. This game, on the other hand, is far from complete - we should not be shouldering the development costs for a game that is not finished yet, as I've said in my previous post. Square should pay for it themselves as it was their fault for having the game the way it is in the first place.
