I'd appreciate a more accessible way to obtain weapons. I'm actually thinking right now and I'm not sure what a new player is supposed to do at this point.

Say someone just bought Heavensward, dinged 60, and finished the story. So now they're ready for endgame content.... but how do they get a weapon? I have a 210 weapon because I was playing at the beginning of the expansion and that was available to me. But what do you do now? Getting a tomestone weapon requires unlocking a ton of content, getting an EX Primal weapon requires first a learning group and then a farming group which all have inflated ilvl requirements because they're farming mounts not obsolete weapons, and getting a savage weapon... lol.

Do they have to do the anima questline? Or grind PotD for a while? And what does the game do to point people in the right direction? Because if you said "nothing," you're right.

The old eso weapon is probably the quickest for new 60s now.
If a new player did their daily hunts as they leveled through Heavensward they should have enough Centurio Seals to buy some of the old i200 equips from the vendor in Ishgard and upgrade them to i210.
Granted unlocking daily hunts may not be obvious to new players as it requires ranking up in your GC to unlock the ARR hunt board first.

and here Yoshi thought iLevel would eliminate people going into content under geared...gear level should be hidden and automatically checked by the game when entering content, that way we don't get people like the OP or worse people who drop from the dungeon or blindly voting to kick another player because they don't agree with the gear they have. If the the system lets you in the content it means you pass the minimum requirements to get in. Or better yet get rid of ilevel...if people only judge you because of the ilevel gear you have as opposed to how well you play the content then it stands to reason there will be a lot of players stressed by the fact that they won't get to play the game and enjoy themselves. And that I'm sure is not something Yoshi and his team wants.

On the one hand, I can almost (but ONLY almost) see the OP's point. I did a Dusk Vigil run a while back with an AST who'd never bothered to upgrade his weapon from the base one the intro quest gave him (so i30 compared to at least halfway decent stuff in other slots), and it was...a bit more stressful than usual. But we cleared, even if it took a little longer. The AST made it clear that he didn't think he'd made that big a mistake given the rest of his gear, we adapted our strat as a whole, and moved on. As someone who's never been super into speed runs, I'd ultimately say that that's the deciding factor: if you can clear, there's no problem, even if it takes longer than someone's definition of "acceptable."

But I'm not one of the "pro" players, so...what do I know, right? XD

Were we born to fight and die? Sacrificed for one huge lie?
    Are we heroes keeping peace?
    Or are we weapons?
Pointed at the enemy so someone else can claim a victory?

No. I had a tank who popped in Antitower with an augmented Ironworks weapon. That's a level 200+ dungeon, and he was using a 130 weapon. I tanked that dungeon, because he sure wasn't going to.

Getting 200+ gear is kind of a pain, yes, but you should also put in the effort to at least find something appropriate instead of just saying "~muh playstyle~". You're wasting three other people's time, just so you can save some yourself.

One of the big problems is that once stuff gets old it becomes "hidden". Unless you know to search online for old Eso gear in order to find out where it is from now then you won't know of its existence. There needs to be something in the lvl60 job quest that either gives a i190 weapon or tells the player how to start gearing up.

Easy solution. Put up PF with clear message that you would like to do A5-A8 WITH A BONUS and you will have full group in 5 minutes. People really need those 2nd chance points for Khloe.

You can always go to MB and buy IL250 HQ one.

For the sake of argument, let's assume this person does not have tens of millions of gil laying around.
