Japan is afraid of sexual body parts so they just made everyone stick figures.

Frankly more customisation options would be nice though honestly I don't have an issue with what we already have. There isn't anything fundamentally wrong with the figures that existing models have. I would make two points though.
Firstly the number of customisation issues is a hardware and software issue. Simply put memory constraints currently limit the amount of variables that can be applied to each character. The more options, the more variables that need to be available. This is one reason they can simply add new options like muscle definition or additional sliders.
Secondly, it is quite possibly a lot more work to add additional sliders than people might assume. There are factors like capacity of the model engine, how adaptable all gear sets are to such modification and of course potential issues with clipping. All these, plus the testing involved, would likely add a decent chunk of time and work to any additional sliders added. The OP suggested the next expansion would be a good time. However that's only 7 months away and the team is already probably spending every spare moment preparing what they have already been working on in addition to finishing off 3.5. It would probably be rather unrealistic to expect any such new additions in such a small and busy period of time.
Threads like this sound ridiculous but the truth is the characters bodies in this game are just wrong. I dont know if this is a Japanese taboo or cultural appropriate but for us in the west it looks plain wrong. But to are not existent nappies are censored and some other details look weird. I don't know if they will ever fix it to be honest. Despite being a so wanted change by a large part of the player base.
It's more of laziness and convenience for the devs.
The convenient part about the set and rigid body proportions is that it's easier for them to model gear on them. I heard that's why the lower bodies of female Miqo'te got reduced.
The males 'lacking' nipples is just a Japanese preference, I heard they think it looks unattractive. They do have nipples however, but it's not a darker tone from the skin color.
Although I have some problems with the body models. They're not bad but they look very rigid (especially the males which lack curves) and both genders are lacking in certain areas.
The height slider also just scales characters instead of actually making their limbs or body longer. Max height Lalafells would have big beach ball heads and it's super creepy lol.
Saying they're lazy, when most of them work overtime is very ignorant. Creating these stuff is much more complex than you think. It's more of laziness and convenience for the devs.

The female body shape is fine. Like curves and stuff. The bust size? Fine. But the butts.. could use a little something lol.
The flat butts do not match the bodies which I feel are okay as it is. It would also be really nice if other races can have a muscle slider to add extra definition.
Males need some work as well. For fairness reasons.

I implied that it's to make their job easier.
Laziness doesn't really just mean they do not want to work, it could also mean they want less effort done. Clear enough?
It actually appears to be the other way around for most gear - the chest piece changes the bust size (have the largest size on Celie and the Patrician's Coatee definitely has a different size than my current gear or my Monk stuff).
It's less noticeable but there's a similar but smaller effect with some pants.
If you want to fap to your game, go play Blade and Soul. This game's character appearances are fine.
It comes with the implication that they could do it of they just wanted to and nothing but there own motivation is stopping them...when that's not necessarily the case (as mentioned before, it could be a case of priorities...changing that element to require less work so that they can put that effort into something else, which isn't lazy).
