But it will. Sufficient horizontal progression will make vertical progression slow, increasing the longevity of the game...
After all, eating 40 donuts a day to help horizontal progression surely makes stair climbing a real struggle...![]()

In their first paragraph they implied that adding things to the cash shop would automatically mean they get stuck behind a massive grind wall, which isn't the case. Then in their very next paragraph they said how it's basically pointless to put the mounts in the CS because of how easy they are to get. Sounds contradictory to me but whatever. If people are really worried about no one wanting to run tired old content anymore because the rewards are in the CS doesn't that just mean people are bored with the content and don't want to sit through it for however long it takes for their mount? Farming the same thing hundreds of times isn't fun for a lot of people. Anyway ponies are purely cosmetic. Nothing game impacting. No, she didn't. Nonetheless, primal mounts exist to motivate people into consistently doing old content. If they put them on the cash shop, what reason have I to run Sophia EX anymore since I have my weapons from her? Simply put, if you can't be arsed enough to grind, then those rewards aren't meant for you.
Since we're at it, SE, please add a 100U$ permanent fantasia that allow us to change for a life time and never bother to buy fantasias ever again.
Yes? No? Please look forward.

What about the fact that during the keynote stream, Yoshi made it a big deal about how for the first time they will be reinvesting profits back into the game and upgrading the servers. You know, kind of proving the point that any excess money they make is just funneled out to Squares other ventures. FFXIV's budget is FFXIV's budget.
I didn't say that they do not use the profits on other games. I was responding to this; What about the fact that during the keynote stream, Yoshi made it a big deal about how for the first time they will be reinvesting profits back into the game and upgrading the servers. ...and specifically mentioned in my response that SE spends it's money on many things other than FFXV.the only reason that's apparently gone up so much since heavensward is because development of ffxv is wrapping up.
Nothing game impacting? Maybe you should reflect on why they're not just handed out to literally everyone. Or perhaps why they were so RNG based. In their first paragraph they implied that adding things to the cash shop would automatically mean they get stuck behind a massive grind wall, which isn't the case. I'm not arguing how big of a deal it would be overall, but rather that there's a reason for these things to be this way. Failing to understand or accept that reason automatically devalues your input or opinion on the given matter.

Ok... I can hand it to you that XV isn't the only thing they've been budgeting money toward, but my point still stands that SE are finishing up projects and re-evaluating budgets for the time being, and that's the reason xiv's budget is going up; it isn't because the game is getting all this additional support through the cash shop.
I mean, I get the impression you're arguing my phrasing rather than my point.

I'm all for spending real money for mounts, to a point, and minions. I think anything over 10, if it isn't glamoured to all hell is not worth it.
I mean I don't know how much cash I blew through when I played wow trying to get the Swift Spectral tiger, took me years to finally get it, and I probably would have saved just buying it outright from eBay.
With that being said, 99 runs takes literally a few days with dedicated people. I don't want to see any of the primal mounts on the cash shop, solely because I farmed 99 totems for them, and it would feel like a slap in the face. Even with Sophia choosing to give me a bird on my 98th kill >.>

You know one thing I would pay for? A transfer to a server that doesn't allow any players that make cash shop purchases. Stick all the cash shop players in their own little hell where they all have exactly the same cash shop items and NONE of them can feel special for lauding their real-world wealth over other players.
