I think the main reason behind it is I think most BLU are used to having such a wide array of skills to pick from but in this case (starting at 30 Id wager) we'd only have 10 I think monster skills you'd learn which would ultimately end up as either an instance battle with the mob that you have to win to learn (or just get hit with it during the fight) or as a fetch quest type where you get your quest to learn bad breath then run out to punch a malboro till it casts it on you then run back. Personally, I am okay with either method but I guess some may want it to be like a class where you have free range of so many skills to pick from, but then you end up with the same old "Which skills give best dps?" "Why are you using that skill!? Take it off/Go learn ___"

This is a reality I think the XI fans need to face with this game. By creating more options, min/maxing for that perfect cookie cutter build means you actually wind up with less option overall, hence why I decided to go the route of making enough of a general toolkit. Sure, it's not really perfect, but neither is thinking that getting more options is a good idea.

Want proof of this? Look at cross-class skills. Yeah, you have some options....or do you? You HAVE to have Swiftcast. You HAVE to have Raging Strikes. You HAVE to have Blood for Blood or whatever cooldowns you can get your hands on that will make you the absolute best at your job or else you fail as a player. As long as we're asking "what's best?", the idea of option as far as abilities go is completely pointless, which is why that system is getting dumped next expansion.
