disconnecting in the first 5 minutes of a duty should give you the 30m penalty

i figure if you disconnect in the first 5 minutes of the dungeon and never reconnect that either:
a) your internet is so bad right now that you wouldn't be able to play for the next 30 minutes anyway
or b) you're gaming the system to get vote kicked for being """"""""offline""""""" so you don't have to do the duty in question.

I disagree. I live in a small town with the worst internet I've had so it kicks me out nearly every time I zone or get into a dungeon. I'm usually able to come back pretty quickly though, meaning within a couple of minutes at the most. It's still playable and I don't believe someone should get kicked out because a drop in the connection. It happens.

That being said, I don't really plan on picking up this game again until I've got something better than this old Asus laptop and terrible internet to play with.

There's other reasons to get disconnected chief. I had a power outage Sunday while a few minutes into a dungeon.. was that my fault power went out in the whole neighborhood? No.. was my internet the blame? No. so why should I have gotten a penalty???

You realize that people:

- Have connection issues
- Internet might go off
- Router might need to be restarted
- Light might go out
- The game says you are still logged in when trying to reconnect, hence will take even more time to enter the game

So people should be penalized from something that's not their fault?

I bet you don't even DPS at all as Healer to speed things up and you can't wait 5-10m for people to come back.

I kind of agree with the sentiment, but this one is tricky. If you DC right after connecting, but immediately log on, should you get a penalty because the party was super quick to kick you? I would think the only case where you should get the penalty is if you DC (on purpose) then come back a few minutes later. The problem is, as far as anyone can tell, those are the same scenario. I'd prefer not to punish users for having an unfortunate DC.

That said, I've been in parties where we all agreed not to kick a tank that obviously DC'd on purpose, and it's hilarious when they come back. I highly recommend it if you're not in a rush!

I can see what you're talking about, what with divas acting like Duty Finder should cater to their whims and theirs alone, but the devs would be hard-pressed to come up with a way to pull this off without stepping on toes.
