Hmm, I see you there, Summoner -- Hiding in my Free Company.

    Mmm.

    New primal battles.
Summoning system that awards the ability to summon primals to Free Companies that defeat them
I think its a pretty awesome idea. The question I have is whether or not this is going to be a Final Fantasy XII-style system in which you can call down a Primal to fight for you against a big boss (something a higher ranked member of the Company would have access to.) or if it will allow you to call them into a coliseum style area of your company for private battles and loot farming.

Either way, an interesting way to incorporate the FFXI summoning mechanic into FFXIV 2.0.

    Your thoughts?

    Additionally:

Wandering Odin primal, who grows in strength and drops greater treasures with each defeat
    Very interesting.

What I see hiding there is Campaign, and large scale faction based battles.

Aligning NPC's to your cause is exactly what Campaign was, and we already have the strongholds.

Im wondering if your GC will effect the primal you can call, Garuda for Gridania, Ifrit for Uldah and Leviathan for Limsa.

Personally I would have liked to see them add an actually summoner job, but this will do I guess.

Eh, that's if you assume it'll only be usable with Campaign-esque content. It could be a lot more versatile than that. Additionally, Campaign granted you no conceivable ownership of people you swayed to join the cause. They would just appear there, and more often than not, they were there because someone was always doing their side quests.

This system, as I'm interpreting it, would be a lot more distinct because they are assigned to YOUR company, not everyone's. This could be used for any number of things -- even if they went so far as to make the Primals only summonable every 2-24 hours it would allow the option of using them across a vast variety of events.

They've expressed plans for pet jobs, I imagine an "Elemental" based pet job will still happen -- the Primals are always too powerful (even in FFXI it was stupid how much weaker yours were compared to the real deal) to be practical as pets. I'd prefer to see the OG summons as big, powerful cannons with limited use and have them give us some new, lesser elemental creatures to summon. Also affords us a chance to see the return of lesser seen summons if they do add a proper Summoner class.

At the very least we -will- get pet jobs as they are being developed under the chocobo combat system.
