I saw the exact same thing in the black week on Primal. There was one night, in particular, in which I was slotted against the same platinum healer for 4 or 5 consecutive matches, whereas the healer on my team was unranked. At the time, I didn't mind all that much because my season ended before 3.4, but if I'd still been in the running then I would have been livid with that matchmaking. I felt especially bad for the unranked healer, because the end results of each match made it pretty clear where the difference was across the two teams. I imagine that would have been fairly demoralizing.Same thing on aether.
