Relic weapon has same weapon damage as Shire weapon, so it's still viable to use as it is better then Sophia weapon now also, as i sort of figured...
Ffxivdatabase has them up if anyone is curious

I'm gonna whine in advance because after every easy catch-up step there is a horrible grind coming afterwards <3

But yeah, seems nice for this one. Too bad I haven't even finished the previous step yet xD

I think you and I have deeply varying definitions of "casual".

To me, casual has nothing to do with your skill at playing the game, or what you're capable of accomplishing. Casual has more to do with the time that you're willing to invest playing the game.

Whether you're spending way too many hours a week practicing for and then farming the latest raids, or spending way too many hours a week rolling through the same dungeons again and again and again and again - neither of these are a casual player.

Someone who plays the game eight hours or less per week - THAT is a casual player, to me. And such an individual will never complete a relic while it is still relevant (or they might - but not actually have any time leftover to actually DO any of the content it would be useful for). If you'd scoff at the notion of anyone investing so little time in the game, they're more common than you might think. I know several personally, parents of young children who MIGHT get an hour or two late in the evening on a given day, but most of the time don't.

It's a mistake to assume that these players are incapable of difficult content. They simply don't have time for it - OR for relic weapons.

Not really, if you look at this compared to 2.0 we are on potentially 1 step left to go to final upgrade. Novus Zodiac-Nexus Zodiac-Zodiac Brave-Zodiac Zeta. The Novus portion was when we added the materia to it, remember how difficult it was in 3.0? . . . not at all. Now, how tough was it in 2.0? You needed tier I-IV materia depending on how far the line you went down, 75 materia in total. You also needed Alexandrite, that was a 1-1 ratio and it wasn't easy to come by at the time of release. Look at 3.0 again, the customization phase was 240 stats, needing umbrite which you could only gain through tomes that granted at least 3 sands each when you traded in both items but with the potential to get 6 per. So if I"m not mistaken it's about 24k tomes needed at min to complete the last stage, but compared to Alexandrite it was potentially 60k tomestones but you still didn't get it right away, you had to do the map fight involved with it to get the drop for it. So it was quite the grind for it's time. Spending all that gil on Tier I-IV materia, farming Alexandrite daily yet in 3.0 verison all you need to do is farm tomestones with Palace of the Dead released offering even more options to farm on top of Wondorous tails AND the whole aspect of lights is non-existent in this scenario because the light came in before the phase where you could customize it.

Sadly at this point if people keep complaining about any potential grind in the near future, truth is they won't be happy til they get the weapon handed to them for doing one quest and talking to another person to receive the reward because the grind is nothing compared to what people went through in 2.0.

I mean, if there's gonna be a grind, the reward needs to be useful at all times, not replaced by the next EX primal. Especially considering how easy they're making content.

I say the grind was quite easy, and well worth it. I didn't think I would like it over my sophia weapon, but the crits are coming in abundance!!

That's why I tend to not touch relics. Granted, I'm leveling other classes but the relic weapon is usually outclassed fairly quick.

This step was the almost exactly level of difficulty of aetheroils, but a couple nudges towards easier. Only 7500 Lore needed, compared to 9000. The Weekly was 3 raids(Worth 20% of total requirement), where as the weekly now is 3 low levels worth again 20%. Plus you got a FREE daily for expert, that you were probably going to do for lore anyways!

I spent up all my saved Lore to get 13 clusters to start, then converted my 2k Eso into 500 more Lore to get an extra 3. Did Trials once, the Low level roulette (twice for bonus and once for completion of weekly,) Expert with bonus + Quest twice, 60 with bonus twice, and a very large amount of Aethereochemical Research Facility speed runs (healer deeps are the steroids of the party.)

Loving this new step. Its a significant DPS increase over the 260 Scripture SCH book (taking into account that all accuracy gained on your relic directly relates to how much additional Crit you can meld on your gear compared to the Shire book, therefore Acc = Crit for DPS increases.) If the trend continues at 270, adding an additional 26 secondaries, on top of equal Mind/Weapon damage of the Augmented Shire, a Crit/Accuracy SCH Relic will easily out weigh the Det/Piety Alexandrian Codex.

(For fun I calculated WHM and even at 270 with accuracy equaling their highest weighted secondary, the Alexandrian Cane is just too godly. In both the case of SCH and WHM I tried to give Piety a little bit of a chance so I put it at .1 for both classes using Dervy's Crit/Weapon damage weights.)

Again this doesn't include the ACTUAL healing factors of the job. The weights point towards SS being the best secondary DPS wise for SCH, but its easy to understand why critting an Adlo would keep you DPSing longer, therefore creating a "Real World" DPS boost compared to a "Dummy" DPS boost.
