Trolls will be their reguardless. Now think about the population dropping like a brick. Some servers are already pretty dinky, its only gonna get worse...and when some people get bored because the servers are empty, or their LS mates/friends dont want to pay, they will in turn stop playing.

it just seems like a giant spiral downwards. Its only going to hurt their future #s later down the line tbh. people will not want to play until 2.0, thats pretty much a full year for them to get into another game or forget this one. SWTOR is almost here and its garunteed to take people away....now that they wanna charge for a game that was clearly stated to be "50%" done to their standards....its only going to be worse.

Think of all the fanboys that will get to spend $200 for a beta over 14months. They will cry when 2.0 gets endlessly delayed knowing that their precious, horribly broken FFXIV is exactly what they're paying for.

As many others have stated, I don't think we should be charged for a game that isn't finished. It would be like, for example, the makers of SWTOR started charging it's users $12 a month, a year before the game was released. Who would honestly do that?

At the same time, I understand SE's need to grab money from the game to fix the game. I just think it's a bit too early to start charging.

If the REAL game is coming out Dec 2012, and SE needs the money that badly, they should focus their money on getting other big games released first (FFXIIIversus, etc) then use that money to fund FFXIV until next Dec, or Nov at least, THEN start charging.

I would have absolutely no problems with that idea.

While you think you are being clever, cool, or whatever your motivation is. You are not really helping the game out whatsoever. People that leave and probably find other games to play, may think back in a years time when 2.0 is released and go "nah, fuck it, too many idiots ruin the community to even give that game another chance". And those idiots are going to be the ones that have a say in how its developed.

Not looking good for ffxvi's future.

It doesn't worth to pay for this game atm and probably will worth it after "Version 2.0" but not now. It just sucks.

I will admit I just got to work and didn't read 11 pages but I really would like the option to just buy a lifetime membership for 200-300 dollars and be done with it. I don't I will be playing this game for a long time. Maybe other people would too I don't know but it might give them a bigger influx when subscriptions go live.

they don't care if 90% of the people leave now they-ll still get the 10% cash. im not saying it will be 90 and 10, i don't know what the numbers will be. All i know is something is better then nothing.

This is why they don't care, they are gonna start re-marketing the game in the summer and building hype at game shows and stuff. They will get all the subs they need in due time. Sucks for us though, they should cut the rate to 50% since that what they consider the game.

Not a very good idea. Just imagine you were someone who never really followed this game but heard it was broken. Then you hear "Lifetime subscription." I know I would go like "Wow, really?"

You can barely get some people to pay the minimum fee. The fact that the game has been out for a year for free probably reflects the condition it has been in. This, on top of them remodeling the entire game, it would be quite a gamble. But it's good to have choices I suppose.
