Just had someone in SophEx who...idk.

So, you know how she will sometimes do Thunder II after the first heavy tilt? Well they kept telling us that if we "charged" at her, she would do Thunder II. Because, apparently, every time they ran on their DRK, and and used Plunge to plunge back at her, she would Thunder II the party. I'm guessing this was aimed towards the MNK in our party that would Shoulder Tackle back to her after the charge to keep up their stacks/DPS.

We kept telling the person that the Thunder II there is based on if DPS is fast enough to push past it or not, that it will happen regardless if someone "charges" at her if DPS is too slow to push past it. Not based off of certain people doing certain moves, or "charging" at Sophia. To the very end: "She still uses Thunder II if you charge at her." *leaves instance*

I just. What?

Story from Sophia Ex:

I was in a good mood after getting the AST weapon drop and thought I should help out some clear parties for once
I..came to quickly..regret that decision ^^;

Typical "clear for a friend, everyone else must have cleared it"-party. It was appearently half a guild or something plus 4 strangers.
We were 3 BLMs and 1 BRD (don't judge..xD who needs melees anyway).
Started the fight, and...failed the adds DPS check. I had never even seen that before, back when we were all ilvl 235-240, now everyone is already above 250, how is that possible..?
Reminded myself to push DMG even more (and also turned on my 'magical crystal ball' that tells me party DMG ). We barely made it past the adds with like 1/10th of a second left.
As the fight progressed, the BRD and 1 BLM kept on dying. In the end, our PLD with 400 something DPS did more DMG than the BRD, the BLM at least made it to 600~700 =.=
We hit enrage at..idk, around 30%? It was sad. But because I'm never feeling confident enough in my own DMG (especially since I once met that MNK in raid finder Sophia who did like 2,4k DPS >.<), I chose not to speak up.
Had two more tries that were about the same.
Then one of the healers asked: "Is anyone else new in here beside our BRD friend?"
After quite some waiting, the problematic BLM spoke up. Yes he hasn't cleared it yet but he knows what he is doing!
"Well okay, then don't die so much, please" was the gist of the response.
BLM strongly protested saying he didn't die, to which someone else who had a parser running answered "Then why is your DMG barely more than a third of the other 2 DPS?"
After another failed try he blamed the marks, saying his DPS was so low because he got assigned a tank and had to run to the front for the stacking mechanic.
So we switched the marks around, and, what a surprise - his DPS didn't change at all
When confronted with that, his response: "I'm a BLM, this fight requires a lot of movement and movement kills my DPS".
UHHHM. THEN WHAT ARE WE OTHER TWO? Just cosplaying as BLMs?!

Honestly, I didn't mind the low DMG. 3 decent DPS are enough to clear that fight anyway (it was just bad luck that the BRD sucked, too).
But these superficial excuses really made me mad

We ended up abandoning shortly afterwards.

Wanted to share some more positive stories

Last night I queued for Battle in the Big Keep. I waited for over an hour for the queue to pop so that was a little frustrating. But it popped and the run ended up being pretty flawless. The only death was because I ended up dying to something silly in the first phase. No negative talk the entire run. I love runs like this.

Later on, I queued for Copperbell Mines Hard. Everyone else knew exactly what they were doing. It was my first time doing this dungeon, and I felt like I wasn't at my best, especially on the golem boss where I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. But I still ended up getting a commendation.

I love that most of this community is so nice and willing to help out.

Got 2 kinda funny ones.

Just got out of Solemn Trinity on my SMN... saw we had 3 bards. Not often I see 3 of a class lol.

Second, last night my FC did maps. Not sure why, but 5-6 of them went as bard. Wasn't there for it but I bet that was funny to watch.

O: "Oh hell no! Just because you have s*** gear (I was ilv 225 at the time) doesn't make it my problem! I'm the OT and if I Voke I have to go into shield and it'll f*** my dps! You need to do your job and tank them and stop whining!"

Unanimous chat laughter for the time waiting for vote kick, unanimous vote kick.

King Mog NM... No clue why but people were so mad. Monk shoulder-tackled first mog, healers let him die but didn't heal anyone else until someone mentioned it.... tho they did so rudely. People wake up on the wrong side or something?

It never ceases to boggle my mind how some people get to 60 and know nothing of their job. I'm no pro, but damn son. I have run into so many DRKs and WARs without Provoke. When questioned they get so defensive and talk about how it doesn't work and they don't need it. I shit you not I ran into a lv 60 WAR that didn't have it, instead had Flash and said it was better as he could spam it a few times and emergency arggo a crowd. There were no words.

Reminds me of my Bis Ex a week ago, my entire FC loads in with 1 tank slot missing. We go in and no issues, get to add phase and I end up with both mobs, kinda figured the same as you. Slight mistake, no worry. We try again and same issue. We mention to him he has to take my add and he responds that he is trying but its hard. The response kinda hits me and we check him out, level 15 Gladiator. Mention he needs to level up a bit more to get Provoke which was followed by "I dont do paladin". The kick was instant lol.
