Agreed. However, as a side-note, I'm not willing to pay monthly on being hopeful. I bought the game on a whim of being hopeful, and everyone knows how that went. Not so sure about that... They also mention something about developing and releasing a brand-new PC client. Could be they're separating the two, allowing the PC client to be enhanced as hardware improves, while keeping the PS3 build isolated.
Would be the best time to be doing that, given the complete restructuring it's undergoing.
Hopefully that's the case.

While I'm not disagreeing that the PS3 might limit the PC version (Cause it's a console and not upgradeable, duh?), OpenGL is way more powerful than the DX used in Xbox360.
You might just want to thank MS for saying it would only allow FFXIV as an Xbox Live Gold Member game, which is why it never went through.
My knowledge of graphic engines isn't very broad. If they are implementing a whole new engine than the one they have now, does that mean they have to redesign everything from the ground up, including character models? Or do they just port the models from the old engine to the new one?
10/14/11 - FFXIV community civil war erupts. "I'm paying and the game is gonna be awesome." VS. "I'm leaving and the game is gonna die." Let the battles begin!

They will continue to upgrade the PC cilent past the PS3 limitations, just like FFXI has started doing with their PC client and leaving the PS2 one standard. (HD fonts, icons etc.)

They'll port over all the content and races and give them a facelift with the new graphics engine, its alot of work but its not as bad as redesigning it all.My knowledge of graphic engines isn't very broad. This. I forget where it was, but they already said that certain aspects of 2.0 will not be implemented in the PS3 version, such as some "player housing" (Mog Houses). So, it's safe to say that the PC version will be getting more than the PS3 version.

They wouldnt leave player housing out of the PS3 game, but they might limit it to a zone they load into whereas on PC we may be able to walk into it ourselves.

The game will have the same mechanics regardless of the platform it's being played on. The only difference will be graphical.

The PS3 version will also not have add-ons, so the clients will be totally different in that respect.
Actually its stated that add-ons will be PC only and not applicable to the PS3 release.
::edit:: in future i will finish reading a thread before i post and find i was beaten to the punch by almost an hour
