    You appear to have a very idealistic view of consumer power in this instance. None of the large ISPs will care one iota about this issue. You mentioned SE not worrying about subscription loss, how much less so will ISPs worry about customer loss? This routing issue affects only one service that any of their customers want to attach to. Everything else my house uses the net for still works.

    I wish I knew. There have been problems like this before, and they were resolved. The trouble is that if there are disputes between Level 3 and ISPs, none of us, SE included, has a direct line to the problem. SE has the largest single financial clout of the customers involved, so they might be able to put some pressure on Level 3 to fix things. If every customer affected by this problem contacted their ISP about it and told the ISP the specific nature of the problem, perhaps the ISPs might take note, but somehow I doubt that a significant portion of those affected will even contact their ISP, never mind tell them exactly what is needed so that they can understand what the problem is to affect a solution.

    Perhaps, but you also seem content with forcing an unrelated company into fixing a problem caused by others... Guess we'll have to agree to disagree (and I'm home now and my ISP doesn't use L3 so I can/have logged in and I want to go and play rather than keep trying to explain things on these forums!)

    So after doing some digging this is what I found on the current situation. http://downdetector.com/status/level3. If you go down to the comments a guy who I'm guessing in an employee for a Level 3 data center is commenting the following about the outage.

    Just got an email update: 10/27/2016 17:55:40 GMT - Field Services have arrived on site and have shot the fiber. A fault condition has been located 4.1 miles from the testing site. The Outside Plant team has been engaged to assist with the investigations.

    10/27/2016 17:33:37 GMT - The ATS team has isolated a possible fiber cut or faulty amplifier in the Level 3 network. Level 3 Field Services are en route to investigate further. The estimated time of arrival is 17:45 GMT.

    10/27/2016 16:54:04 GMT - A suspected fiber cut in Houston, TX is impacting IP and Unprotected Transport services. The Transport NOC has engaged Level 3 Field Services and the Level 3 Advanced Technical Support (ATS) team to assist with the investigations. Please be advised that updates for this event will be relayed at a minimum of hourly unless otherwise noted. The information conveyed hereafter is associated to live troubleshooting effort and as the discovery process evolves through to service resolution, ticket closure, or post incident review, details may evolve.

    *** CASCADED EXTERNAL NOTES 27-Oct-2016 18:52:18 GMT From CASE: xxxxxxxx - Event
    Field Services and the Outside Plant team continue troubleshooting to further isolate the fault condition. The estimated time to repair is not yet known

    I am on Cox in Connecticut, from 4am this morning , its now 425pm i get to character select but then i get either a 90002 error of 10105 error code, Primal - Leviathan server, thinking of creating a new character on another server see if i get in that way.

    ddos tend stick to blizzard i not sure Yoshi P. and Square enix have anger anyone would mount ddos attack yet

    though it maybe a Squarril attack though squarril aren't most reasonable animal out there or possible a pigeon attack too

    I don't see how a faulty fiber/equipment in Houston would affect people all over the country. Certainly makes bad infrastructure look worse if that is the case lol.
