Actually, having a special minion/mount reward for those that did the 3.0 relics would be a nice reward for when we start the 4.0 ones.
Whether it's a special mammet tied to each weapon or the Anima gains the strength to separate from it, I would enjoy that!

We'll probably get an Anima minion color-coded to our job or something, thereby making it so that it can exist outside of our current weapon, or maybe that it can inhabit later weapons (such as the 4.0 Relic).

Maybe it'll be a minion or something.
I imagined creating a Spirit Beast pet for a XIV Beastmaster once. The 2nd Worse Case Scenario (painful memories of the previous companions I sacrificed to create it) killed me...2nd Worse Case Scenario: They end the Anima arc, keep the soul in the vessel and then allow it to be traded in for a new weapon, all while pointing out the ramifications of that decision. The option will still be there but be more heavily discouraged and possibly would cause some chastising if they go through with it.
But could I kill an anima weapon, steeped in memories of grinding all to fill a barely interactive soul? Probably depends on whether it'd be BiS in its actual time.

It will become cold and distant, stay out late and not return our calls. But that's kids for you; unless they need them they want their parents to remain invisible![]()

Which would explain why it's becoming outdated - it's not going to take you in and work for you when you get older!
