WAR Advice / What makes a good tank?

Hello, I main'd WAR up until the second most recent patch, where I then went to Ninja. Now I'm back to WAR. People have told me I'm a good/decent tank, I use my cool downs when pulling and I try to Inner Beast each tank buster, with the occasional premature use! What I'm looking for is help in Deliverance, I've seen WARs take absolutely no damage while in it and managing to do over 1000 DPS. I envy their skill and hope to be as good as them, so what general tips do the WAR vets have to give to me?

    Thank you!

Also if you don't wish to offer WAR advice, what do you think makes a good tank? Regardless of their class!

Just try to remember that Defiance doesn't prevent any incoming damage compared to Deliverance. So your cooldown use (other than Inner Beast) is going to work exactly the same.

Learn how to fit three Fell Cleaves within a single Berserk and you should be otherwise okay from the sounds of it.

Ah thanks, I can do Berserk with 3 Fell Cleaves. It's just the timing I gotta work on. Thanks for the help comment!

Note to yourself that every single fight is different and your CDs usage and triple FC might not be feasible universally. Learning the fights inside out is going to be the most challenging theme if you want to get the best efficiency of your DPS and tanking.

I can 100% agree with you here, I was tanking Sophia Ex and I found timing a lot of my abilities to be difficult as you have to kinda predict when she'll use the Lightning debuff attack. Thanks for the help

Just asking for some advice, here: I'm playing on PS4, should I have 1 Crossbar for DPS and 1 for defense? Maybe I should have my defensive cooldowns on both?

For skill rotation and cd management in savage or ex trials you can refer to fflogs and look at the top parses, then compare them with what you're doing in the same fight. Checking youtube vids of the top players/guilds can also help, though keep in mind that some of them may do some risky stuffs that you probably will take many attempts to successfully replicate due to the difference in skill and experience. Also remember that these top groups have healers and co-tanks that perform at really high level too, so some of the things you see there may not work with average groups you meet in PF even if you're not making any mistake. For example if your healers are new, they may not be prepared enough to top your hp up in a very short gap between a tank buster and a cleave, so it's not a bad idea to prepare for that with a self heal or extra mitigation.

I'd also like to ask a question, is flash something a Warrior should ever use? Outside of running out of TP from overpower?

Flash is great for tp and for aoeing mobs. Good tanks prioritize staying alive over dealing damage. A great rule to always remember and this applies to everyone, a dead player does absolutely 0 dps. Especially mechanics that requires tank swap, cant swap if your dead. Learn the mechanics then Learn to dps.

I'd say it's a good choice when you start playing war, since you need to get used to the tp consumption rate of using overpower on pulls, and especially if you're at lower lv you don't have access to some stuffs that may save tp (steel cyclone and decimate for 0 tp aoe moves, equilibrium for 200 tp every 60 sec). At max lv I'd suggest taking provoke, convalescence, awareness, internal release and second wind for cross class skills.
